  1. Also fruits: peppers, tomatoes, and squash. How about a green pepper pie?
  2. Pecan Pie (especially of made with bourbon soaked pecans) is a heavenly concoction not to be lumped into the common pie category.
  3. Dammit! I agree with Randy again! 2 Thumbs down for me. Even the sight of it turnsy stomach.
  4. I'm not quite sure why you are intent on making me look like I am "wrong ", but so be it. You are welcome to the last word
  5. I would agree, but add the caveat that societal norms have largely driven both policy and enforcement in the past. And again, that's why I said it is day to day where culture is changed.
  6. OK. I would caution you that just because your former company was good at it, doesn't mean that it isn't a societal issue.
  7. No, what has failed is that societally, we have been stuck in the dark ages. We are only now giving credibility to the accusers at the time the accusations. In the past, sexual abuse or harrassment had to be proven by the victim, not defended by the accused. In addition, even now, the perception of what is or isn't over the line appears to be considered subjective. People have been afraid to come forward because those who have have often been destroyed. They've lost their jobs, had their reputations impugned, and often, if they kept their jobs, been forced to continue having to deal with the person who committed the offense. I have been thinking back over my career. There are some people I know that are likely a little worried about their pasts. And there are some who likely aren't, but definitely should be.
  8. I would agree, especially if you look at gay men. Some of the stuff I've heard said to gay men is absolutely abhorrent.
  9. Maybe it's the industry I am in, but I have been in semi-annual harrassment/inappropriate behavior training for over 20 years. And yet harrassment still is common. It appears that there are many people who legitimately do not understand what crosses the line. And there are many people, especially men, who don't CARE (or didn't), because they held the power in virtually any he said/she said situations. Now, the pendulum has swung, and they are caught with their metaphorical pants down. This issue has been pervasive, even in the workplaces where required training occurs regularly. You know why? Because when you try to address an issue by having people attend a mandatory meeting for an hour and feel that having their signed acknowledgement is enough, you are failing. It's the day to day handling of incidents and issues that changes a culture.
  10. You didn't have an option for 1 or less, so I chose less than 50, but it's realistically no where near 50. LOL. An athlete I ain't.
  11. Is there anyone like me? I'll take taxies all day long. Something about Uber and Lyft makes me incredibly uncomfortable. I feel the same way about Airbnb. I'll do hotels, b&B's etc. I do not want to be in a stranger's home
  12. I have always been terribly prone to wanting to be right. Over the course of this year, I have been working to become a kind person. It's hard. Much harder to be kind than to be right. I still fail often. I'm not giving up though!
  13. Exactly my thought! I just finished shopping for my granddaughters. I also bought a couple of area rugs. Levi's last week of daily nosebleeds ruined the one I just bought for the living room. Found a couple I really like on Wayfair and I'll use one in the living room and one in the dining room. Now looking for a few little things for my kids and a couple of coworkers and I'm done!
  14. Thank God! I was freaking out, thinking I'd lost a decade of my life....but then thinking....retirement is right around the corner! :lol2: I LOVED (still love) INXS. Don't Change is my favorite of all.
  15. My family. This year, in particular, I am on my knees in thanks that my sister has responded well to her cancer treatments and continues to show improvement. Every day she is on this earth is a gift to me.
  16. Stufffing, but we never actually stuff anything with it. BTW, whoever uses regular bread for this dish ...blech... I make cornbread, let it get stale, use homemade chicken stock, choped onion, celery, real butter (no margerine), celery and rubbed sage. I put it in a baking pan and cover it with foil and bake about 40 minutes. I refrigate it overnight, then bake again without the foil to get a nice crust on the top and dry it out so that it's not mushy or gooey.
  17. My daughter is hosting Thanksgiving for the first time. This menu is perfect! She is making the Turkey & rolls, Sister Schuberts My mom is making candied sweet potatoes (hopefully without marshmallows ) and Pumpkin pie. One of my sisters is bringing green beans. My nephew and his husband are bringing a pecan pie I have made: Mashed Potatoes Homemade Sage Cornbread stuffing Cranberry,Apple, Orange Compote (with a little extra allspice that I got at an awesome little Bodega out in Okolona) Broccoli casserole Deviled eggs Roasted Brussels Sprouts I am now trying to get up the gumption to make a lemon bundt cake. I'll make gravy when I get there tomorrow, from the turkey drippings. (If you can't tell, I told everyone what they were bringing :lol2:
  18. I hate to be a downer in this game, but I couldn't be more proud of my kids than I am now. They are happy, productive, kind and compassionate people. Unless they were guaranteed to still be all of those things, none of the rest are reasons to be proud of them.
  19. Did you not read my subsequent post that his apology was admission and strengthened the veracity of the allegation?
