Bowling Green/St. X Predictions

X wins a close game... 24-23. -
Who are you pulling for Trinity fans?
LongTimeReader replied to bugatti's topic in KY Football (High School)
I would think that many T fans would like to see the BG streak end sooner rather than later, so if that means pulling for X then that is what it means. If you're an X fan do want BG to top T's streak, which means BG beating X for the 4th straight time? -

BluegrassPreps.com Kentucky Class 6A Rankings for 9-1
LongTimeReader replied to theguru's topic in KY Football (High School)
The rankings look good. Kind of like past years where it was Trinity and everyone else, this year it is Male and then everyone else. Manual has been hyped up a lot this year, but I will not put much stock into them until they can knock of X and T. -

Bowling Green/St. X Predictions
LongTimeReader replied to Purple Nation's topic in KY Football (High School)
There appears to be no "big" time players in this years game like there have been the past few. Both teams appear to be evenly matched, much like last year, it will come down to the coaching. We'll see if Wolford and Co. have learned from their last meeting. -

So what you're saying that if his TD run was his only positive run and he lost 23 yards on his other carries. Not true, was at the game. -

Yeah, no he didn't. He had a 10 yard run on the first play of the game, and ran for about a 25 yard TD later in the game. Video evidence to support my last statement. -

Yes, I saw him in the slot during the 3rd and 4th quarter. I just saw him block. He's #88. -
Bowling Green/Blackman game cancelled
LongTimeReader replied to Antwan's topic in KY Football (High School)
If I'm Blackman's QB I'm glad the game was cancelled, because I looked at the highlights of this game from last year and that QB from Blackman was running all around the backfield trying to escape Purples. -
Bowling Green/St. X Predictions
LongTimeReader replied to Purple Nation's topic in KY Football (High School)
While BG's defense is very good, Walker found success for three years against them. The big issue, especially in the 2012 matchup was that BG knew he was getting the ball pretty much every time and the Purples just sent blitz after blitz at the Tigers. -
Bowling Green/St. X Predictions

I think that goes with the learning curve of the offensive staff. But that is for a whole different thread. -
Last week: St. X – 28 Bryan Station – 13 This past Friday, the St. X Tigers participated in the Republic Bank Bluegrass Bowl hosted by Lexington Catholic. The Tigers played the Bryan Station Defenders, which these two teams last meet in the 1999 4A State Championship game. On St. X’s first play of the game, QB Noah Houk threw an interception which set up the Defenders for their first score to take a 7-0 lead. While Noah Houk was not as efficient through the air as was against Ballard in the opening week, 1 TD pass to go with 3 INTs, the ground game carried the Tiger offense. The ground game for the Tigers accounted for 291 yards and it was led by senior Taijon Smith (32 carries, 178 yards) and junior John Hernandez (10 carries, 82 yards). With junior running back Chase Rowan still held out because of injury, the Tigers RB position is stepping up and taking the pressure off of Noah Houk, Houk’s lone passing touchdown came late in the 4th quarter and sealed the game when he found wide receiver Michael Ackerman for 65 yard touchdown pass. The offense did what he had to do to win the game, but the Tiger defense stepped up and made big plays to keep the fast pace Bryan Station defense at bay. The game’s MVP, Logan Butler, accounted for 3 interceptions and .5 a sack to help lead the Tigers to the victory. Bryan Stations defense was able to consistently move the ball with short to intermediate passes. With this style of offense, the key is to not miss tackles so a 5 yard pass does not turn into a 35 yard pass. The X defense did exactly that with was key to holding the Defenders to just 13 points. The Tigers improved to 2-0 and have shown their defense is effective against the run and the pass. Logan Butler is a difference maker and as the year progresses look for him to be more dominating and to have more players follow his lead. The St. X offense is looking for their identity, but what the offense has shown that will make a St. X fan smile is that the offense can effective throw the air or on the ground. This week: St. X @ Bowling Green Previous Meeting: St. X 25 Bowling Green 39 The Purples have won the last 3 meetings between these two schools and the Tigers will have to be on their “A” game to beat Bowling Green at El Donaldson Stadium. Head on over to the prediction thread to express your opinion on this much anticipated game between two heavy weights in Kentucky High School football.

Bowling Green/St. X Predictions

Easy Black Jack, stomped is a big word. While this a good BG team, it is not the team from last year so it is hard for to envision BG stomping X. -
Bowling Green/St. X Predictions
LongTimeReader replied to Purple Nation's topic in KY Football (High School)
In 2011 BG controlled the LOS which carried them to the victory. 2012, in my opinion is the one that got away from the Tigers. Heading into halftime I believe they held a 9 point score, but X lost their starting QB right before halftime and become extremely one dimensional on offense. 2013 BG was the better team and better prepared. The key for X will be their QB play. If Noah Houk can make plays through the passing game it will cause the Purples defense to not blitz as much. This is a big IF based off the play against Bryan Station. -

St. Xavier/Bryan Station Predictions
LongTimeReader replied to LongTimeReader's topic in KY Football (High School)
Gamebreaker, I agree with you. Bryan Station's offense will be a great challenge for the Tiger defense. Ways to negate the Defenders' fast pace offense is to control the time of possession and to pin Bryan Station's offense deep in their own terriotory when/if they have to punt. Gameday! :dancingpa -
St. Xavier/Bryan Station Predictions
LongTimeReader replied to LongTimeReader's topic in KY Football (High School)
The easiest way is for the Tigers to have long possessions. If they do that then they can hold Bryan Station to a couple of scores. But in reality, I don't really see that happening. I looked at Bryan Station's schedule from last year and the better teams they played they gave up a bunch of points, and that trend will continue. X will score in bunches and while Bryan Station will put up some numbers on offense, it will not be enough to top the Tigers. Tigers - 42 Defenders - 23 -
