  1. Who is an "under the radar" player for each team that could be the difference maker in helping their team to victory?
  2. One thing that has stood out to me over the last few years is St. X offense does not put pressure on a good defense. Traditionally, X can over power many teams on the freshmen and JV level, but when they the likes of T and Moeller on those levels their offense is pretty easy to defend. The issue with their offense is they want to be a pro style team, the problem is that they don't have pro players. They have to do something on offense that is going to cause a good team problems, and they just don't do that. The same arguement could be said for the varisty level as well. But I heard the X defense played well. Just not much going on the offensive side of the ball.
  3. Final. With about a 1:30 left in the game X faced a 4th and 5 deep in their own territory and were unable to convert. T took over and scored to go up by 2 scores.
  4. Sample size was too small. It is tough to be a first year senior starting quarterback, but with over a half of the regular season played I would predict improvement as we progress through October.
  5. Also a not so fun fact...Noah Houk for St. X is the last QB to win a game against Trinity on any level since 2009.
  6. I like the way St. X schedules, with the exception of Fairdale. I like the 2-3 out of state teams they play, and hope that X continues to play/schedule BG and Highlands of the state.
  7. Don't have an answer for that question. But I'm sure Trinity fans can correct me if I'm wrong, but Trinity started to play a regional/national schedule because many teams in Jefferson Co. would not play Trinity.
  8. It is what it is. St. X does not play the number of out of state teams Trinity does; just a difference in philosophy I guess.
  9. The goal for this game is for BG to get to a running clock as fast as possible so they can start their fall break!
  10. Third down conversions will tell the story in this game. X defense will have to make sure they get T off the field in third down situations, and the X offense cannot put their defense in bad situations by not converting on third downs.
  11. After a good win over Moeller, the young Tigers fell to Central.
  12. The Bucs are well, the Bucs and the Steelers are not the Steelers of 10 or even 5 years ago. Living in the Tampa Bay area, a lot of talk the past week has been the QB position and the offensive coordinator (Jeff Tedford) being out indefinitely due to medical issues. While this is just one game, I thought Glennon played a good game. He may be a game manager, but at the end of the day he makes the plays that keep his team in the ball game, instead of making an ill-advised play that caused the team to lose all momentum. It was a good win for the Bucs and one that hopefully will cause Coach Smith to give Mike Glennon a closer look at being the starter.
  13. I would have to agree with East Raider. While X has played only one out of state team it's not like X has played "Fairdale" every week. Of there six games so far, the only game that makes one scratch their head is the Fairdale game, other than that the competition has been pretty good. Bowling Green and Moeller are two top teams in their respective states. Is Trinity's schedule "tougher" than St. X's overall, yes, but St. X is still competing against quality competition. Just because a team has to play an out of state school does not make them better than every in-state school.
  14. Last Week St. X 46 Central 6 The Tigers improved their record to 4-2 with a 46-6 win over the Central Yellowjackets. The Tigers got the scoring going when Central fumbled on the first play of the game and the Tigers recovered, which set up the Tigers at Central's 20 yard line. Senior running back Taijon Smith first carry of the game was a 20 yard TD run. That was all the Tigers needed as they rolled to a 40-0 halftime lead. Starting quarterback, Noah Houk finished 5 for 8 passing for 78 yards and two TDs and Smith finished the game with 95 yards on 16 carries and two scores. The two touchdown passes from Houk were to wide out Jaylon Hibbs who finished with two catches for 21 yards and to tight end Davis Kannapell, who finished the game with one catch and 24 yards. The St. X offense was set up with short field position by the Tiger defense and by mistakes from Central. The numbers are not eye popping, but it does show the offense was able to capitalize on Central mistakes and finish drives with touchdowns. These two aspects will be vital this coming week against the Trinity Shamrocks. The defense stayed consistent and as dominate as they have been all year in allowing only 169 yards to Central. It was total unit effort for the Tigers defense as Jackie Arnold and Trace Amshoff grabbed interceptions, Clark Campbell blocked a punt, and Kyle Oliver recovered a fumble. The Tiger defense has definitely carried the team this year, as the offense continues to find their footing. A total defensive effort will be needed as the high powered Trinity offense is next on the schedule. Next Up Trinity Shamrocks (4-2) Last Week Trinity 31 Cathedral (IN) 19 Previous Meeting October 4, 2013: Trinity 29 St. X 17 THE GAME as arrived! Pride week is officially upon us as a number of the fall sports from both St. X and Trinity battle each other in their respective sport. Recently, Trinity has been pretty dominate on the football field over the Tigers; as the Tigers look to end their losing skid to the Shamrocks. Coach Wolford, who was hired for this game, will be looking to record his first victory over Trinity. Is this the year the Tigers are able to knock off Trinity since 2009 or will Trinity continue their winning streak over to Tigers? Head on over to the prediction thread and express your thoughts about the game and who you think will win this annual grudge match. Go Tigers!
  15. I would say the talent gap still favors the Rocks, but it is not as wide as it was from 2010-2012.
  16. Yes, according to their schedule on the St. X website.
  17. Are you referring to firings at St. X or firings in general?
  18. AT, I believe you already know the answer to that question.
  19. I take JV and even some freshmen games with a grain of salt, but I was shocked when I saw this score. When you get beat by almost 3 TDs there is a problem.
