  1. The St. X defense will hold Central down and the Tigers will win fairly easily. Tigers - 28 Yellowjacts - 7
  2. Bowling Green - 56 Barren Co. - 7 In reality, the Purples can almost pick the number they want to score and what they want to give up.
  3. Good win for the Baby Bengals! Any word on how the JV team faired against Moeller?
  4. The Central Yellow Jackets travel to St. X to take on the Tigers. Central has been close to knocking off the Tigers the last few years, who are winless against the Tigers in 33 meetings. Will Central be able to knock off the Tigers this year or is St. X just a little too much this year? What does St. X have to do to get the bad taste of a loss against Moeller out of their mouths?
  5. Tough loss for the Purples. But a tip of the cap to everyone involved with Bowling Green High School from 2011 - present who helped start and advance the streak to the second longest streak in the state. Coach Wallace and his staff have done a great job preparing the young men each week to be the best on and off the field. During this streak Bowling Green has proven to those across the state they are one of the states power teams, not just the top team in the South Central area of KY. Finally, whether or not one believes they beat a "bunch of nobodies" think about this, when was the last time your team won 48 straight games? Unless you're a Trinity fan the answer would be, your team has not. Good luck to the Purples the rest of year! 4in'14.
  6. Stating the obvious here, but offense is going to have to make plays consistently for this team to beat very good teams. Coach Bruner and staff are doing a phenomenal job, just need the offense to come along with them.
  7. Game day!:dancingpa X wins on last second field goal 16-14.
  8. It's ok for slight concern, but my freshmen year in '01 we lost to Holy Cross 14-0. These things happen, especially on the JV and freshmen level.
  9. Didn't see this one coming. I will say that I remember when X and DeSales would play regularly on the varsity level and the games were always competitive. I hope that X and DeSales continue to play each other.
  10. This will be a big game for the Tigers. The key for St. X will be their ability to convery on 3rd down. I'm assuming that Moeller will be very big upfront, so the offense can not put the defense in bad spots. Convert on 3rd down and don't turn the ball over and they give themselves a chance to knock of the #24 team in the country.
  11. Walker had a huge game last year rushing for over 200 yards. The probably was that was their only offense as they could not punch the ball into the end zone.
  12. Thanks. I'm glad you could point out the simple reason.
  13. Did you attend the Moeller/Cov Cath game? Any scouting report on Moeller?
  14. I voted for McCallie based on the fact that as one poster stated earlier, last year BG needed everyone of their excellent skill players to make big time plays. Unfortunately, BG does not have the number of top skill players they had last year. I believer McCallie will win, but the Purples will not roll over easy. PS...it will not hurt my feelings if BG wins because if they do then their is a very good chance they surpass T in the winning streak category.
  15. Previous Week St. X - 41 Fairdale - 12 This past week St. X hosted the Fairdale Bulldogs in with St. X hosted both Future Tiger Night and Senior Night. Many question why St. X schedules these types of games, the answer...I'm not sure. I see both sides of the argument, but the reason why I do not have a problem with the Tigers playing Fairdale is it allows everyone dressing for the game an opportunity to play and take a varsity snap. At the end of the day, it is hard argue with that reason. Future Tiger Night is an opportunity for young Tiger fans to come out be a part of pre-game and post game activities. The event has added some new dimensions over the years, but typically the young Tigers in attendance get the opportunity to form a tunnel for the players to run onto the field and receive autographs from their favorite current Tiger after the game. It is a great opportunity and experience for both the future and current Tigers. St. X also held Senior Night, a change Coach Wolford implemented this year. I have not heard the reason for moving Senior Night up from the last home game. There were a lot of festivities going on at Br. Thomas Moore Stadium and another opportunity to watch the Tigers play! St. X as expected took care of business and improved to 3-1. Statistics are not overwhelming by anyone because everyone had the opportunity to play and get varsity reps. At the end of the game Noah Houk was the leading passer, going 3-5 for 70 yards and 1 TD. The leading rusher for the Tigers was John Martinez with 45 yards on 6 carries. Finally on offense, Colin O'Daniel led the receivers with 1 catch for 49 yards and a touchdown. Defensively the leader for the Tigers against Fairdale was Jack Kronk with 3 solo tackles and 1 TFL. Upcoming Game vs. Moeller Crusaders (OH) Record 3-0 Last Meeting St. X 12 Moeller 24 (September 20, 2013) Moeller is traveling from Cincinnati to take on the Tigers of St. Xavier at Br. Thomas More Stadium. The last meeting between these two teams, Charles Walker had a huge game running the ball, but the offense was unable to punch the ball into end zone against a very tough Moeller defense. The Tigers have not beaten the Crusaders since the 2003 season when Moeller traveled to Louisville and the Tigers defeated them 31-17. Here is another opportunity for Coach Wolford and his team to make a statement against an out of state opponent and silence some of his critics. Head on over to the St. X/Moeller prediction thread and express your thoughts about who wins this battle of top teams and why you believe they will win. A final tidbit, I believe this group of seniors beat Moeller when they were freshmen. While that was 3 years ago, it could lead to some confidence within the group.
  16. Cocoa wins in a close game. The game will be close because of Trinity's style of offense and their depth. I live in the Tampa Bay area and have had the opportunity to see a lot of FL high school football, the big thing I notice about offenses is that there are not very much spread style offenses. I'm not exactly sure what Cocoa runs, but if Trinity can execute they will give Cocoa a world of problems in my opinion. But in the end, I believe Cocoa will have a few too many weapons and be able to overcome some of their short comings.
  17. What do the Tigers have to do to knock off the Crusaders? Will St X's defense continue their solid play or will Moeller be able to over power St. X? Last year the Tigers used Charles Walker and their running game to stay within striking distance, will they be able to do that this year or will Noah Houk have to make big plays in the passing game?
  18. BG beat North Hardin 28-7 and Warren East 34-16 in '08. So just like in 2014 the score does not indicate how close the game actually was. So yeah, I would compare the '08 OFFENSE to the '14 OFFENSE.
  19. Tevin was about it on offense. LaVance was hurt for the majority of the '08 season, and JP Jackson, while a solid QB wasn't going to beat people like Trent Steelman did before him. I compared the two because they didn't have great playmakers, just a good unit that could score just enough to win ball games.
  20. The Tigers will see action again this Friday at 7:30 at Brother Thomas More Stadium against Fairdale. After a heartbreaking loss last Friday in Bowling Green, the Bulldogs should offer a nice rebound opportunity for the Tigers. If history repeats itself, St. X should have plenty of opportunities to fix what went wrong last week against Bowling Green. 21. Expectation control was needed when Coach Wolford was hired. It is not easy to take NFL knowledge and translate that to high school, things are obviously different. Coach Wolford is adjusting and it will take time; it's a process. I agree 100% with the CSAA, comment. There are just know the number of kids playing in the CSAA as there were 10 years or even 5 years ago. But it's Gameday! :dancingpa
  22. The defense is just as good as it has been the last few years, the difference is their offense is average. They remind me a bit of the '08 team. Nice pieces, but has not fully comed together yet. Now, if the defense is able to generate some turnovers, then all bets are off on the the offense.
  23. I think BG wins, but closer than the experts predict. Purples - 20 Red Devils - 13
  24. The shine has come off of the Wolford hire. It is just like everyone who loves the "backup quarterback", X fans wanted a change from Coach Glaser, and when it happened they thought Wolford would have great success. The expectations on last years team was unfair because of all the unknowns. Will Wolford's name lead many to believe he would take the program to new heights, but I don't think he fully understood what it meant to be a high school football coach, let alone a high school football coach at St. X. Unless you are a coach, you just don't really know how much time is invested and needed to be successful. The shine has come off because, Wolford was "supposed" to go undefeated and win a state championship in his first year. That did not happen for a number of reasons, but I think he has learned a great deal and has made adjustments. Coach Bruner and his staff have made great strides on defense, an area that has struggled the last few years. The offensive development was hindered by the "Nagel Experiment", it will take time but Coach Wolford will get the coaches he wants to run an effective offense.
