    Lumenocity

Minor correction. CSO rocked Born to Run, the crowd jammed to it.
  2. Awesome deal they have in Florida this time of year. Like you said, Christmas in August. Nifty idea of the state to help retailers and also give families a break at the back to school shopping season. Ohio's deal, not so much.
  3. Numbers breakdown I saw tonight on Trout vs. the all-time leaders in some categories: At the age of 24, he's way ahead of Pete Rose in the hits department. He's well ahead of Hank Aaron in the total bases department. And, he's well ahead of Ricky Henderson in the runs department. More than just a little impressive. Bonds name comes to mind for sure. Most impressive run I've ever seen closely was what Eric Davis did in early 87. He owned the game for a couple months, and because he was a Red, I got to see it nightly. On that note, I'd say it must be good to live in LA and be a baseball fan these days.
  4. My man must have slept in a Holiday Inn last night. Short answer to your last graph is, then don't. Trust me, you aren't bringing a boat load of knowledge to the conversation. I'll live. Longer answer is, I think the Reds could have gotten better returns for both guys. "Prospects" for a potential Cy Young winner don't send me into backflip mode. Not been a fan of the Reds front office since they made Dusty a scapegoat. Since then, they've basically done nothing to bolster the team, and this is the result. Bats are few and far between, no depth, etc. But I get it. You invented the game and the rest of us just don't understand. I gotcha.
  5. Rings like a "yeah but," issue to me with a lot of responses. Point is simple, you can trade established MLB talent for MLB talent. Others said it couldn't be done, I pointed out it has in a few cases I remember off the top of my head, I'm sure there are others. Each one, seems to have a "yeah but," exception to it. I'm also in the camp that the Reds should have moved Cueto earlier and have pointed that out. We can disagree, if you guys want to get excited about 2018, 17, 19, whenever go ahead. Me, I see way too many holes and question marks at this point.
  6. In keeping with my apparent role as the antagonist in this thread, someone riddle me these: When the Reds traded for Latos, did they give up a proven major league pitcher? The Padres got a major league guy in return, right? Guy might still be pitching for a pretty good team? When the Reds traded Travis Wood, they got Marshall (another MLB for MLB trade, go figure). Seems these things can happen without the 83 exceptions involved in the, "yeah but," Red Sox trade of last year.
  7. Mostly this. Beechwood's district has all the residential development it will ever have (unless I'm missing a large area of land somewhere in Ft. Mitchell). It's not going to grow much, and may even get smaller enrollment rise occasionally. When referring to the current alignment I was thinking more along the lines of re-classification back to 4 or 5 classes, a 2A school like NewCath perhaps falling into 1A, those type of instances.
  8. I don't want to go round and round on this, but I thought I mentioned the Red Sox deal first, and then you said you knew someone would bring that up. Either way we are just going to view what the Reds got for Cueto and Leake differently.
  9. Fair question, but awfully tough to answer. Which is kinda my point. Tough to gauge prospects, and I do think the Reds could have gotten a proven bat for Cueto. At the deadline, maybe. But, they certainly could have during the off-season or even at last year's deadline. The team's been dead in the water long enough that they didn't have to wait until the 11th hour to let Cueto go.
  10. Nah, I understood your words as you backtracked. Just didn't sell me. Not a fan of , "yeah, but...".
  11. Once again LB does himself proud. Nice get. Album is right in my wheelhouse of never forget moments. Released in 87, it had a sluggish start but "Pour Some Sugar On Me," and "Love Bites" changed that. In the summer of '88 this was all you heard. It was the soundtrack to that summer. I liked the song Hysteria a fair amount. Still like it. Still like Love Bites. Still like Love and Affection. Pour Some Sugar on Me got old by like July 4th that summer, but they kept playing it on the radio. Not much of a fan anymore as a result. Iconic album.
  12. Everyone's back tracking on the simple question proves my point well enough I suppose.
  13. Dude, that's a lot of rain. Folks in the Amazon would be tired of that. #enoughisenough . Gotta say though, I've never understood why Florida is the sunshine state. I've been there many times, and it's never been sunny for my entire stay. And when it rains in Florida, it doesn't mess around. It POURS. I'd still take it over shoveling every other day though, like most of us up here did last winter.
  14. Never had to get there 90 minutes before a show, even the sold out ones. But, better safe than sorry I suppose. As others have said, leaving the place can be real hit-and-miss. I know people that actually leave before the encore to avoid potential problems. I have none of that. The deeper into the Coney parking lot you are though, the longer you wait. That 90 minutes early idea might lump you into the first to come, last to leave bunch.
  15. Certainly easier. I really think Beechwood could go on a 90's type run of championships. If the current alignment stays intact for 10 years I could see Beechwood winning 7 or 8 titles.
  16. Reread the first sentence of the post I quoted. Did you mention a salary cap, or mention every single owner has to make money?
  17. My point was simple. There are owners who are fine with losing money if their team wins big. It's not a business first with these guys. You think Mike Brown spends more money on the Bengals franchise than Jerry Jones does on the Cowboys? You think there are many owners in the NBA who outspend Mark Cuban on their basketball franchise? There's a lot more to this than just a salary cap.
  18. Well see, anyone who knows anything about baseball knows Bailey has better stuff because he was a higher rated "prospect" and I read "insider" reports that said he did. I'd be shocked if he's not a 5 time all star. Plus, I know the game and I know pitching, and I'm telling you he does. Sarcasm firmly intact for the entire above. Gotta be careful in these threads, a lot of these guys not only invented the game, but they also have doctorate's in Moneyball.
  19. Assuming you're referencing my post (though the world may never know). This was my point exactly.
  20. Who'd the A's trade last year to get Lester?
  21. First bolded, who did the Red Sox get when they traded John Lester to the A's last year? Second bolded, on the first part condescend much? I might more know more about the Reds farm system than you think... Second bolded second part, I'm not sure what universe I'd label Cueto and Leake "very expendable." But, hey, we got all these prospects now and 4 of them are going to be all-stars? Okay, 2019 here we come. Looking forward to how much the street cars will be rocking while we all ride down to the Series.
  22. I feel your pain. This summer's period between June 15 and July 14 was the wettest for that period in Greater Cincinnati since like 1860 something.
  23. Nice thread.:thumb: A lot of it rings true, some may be a reach. Overall good stuff. Thanks for sharing
