I genuinely hope you are correct. But if we are being fair, there is little evidence to support this.

It's early, so I'm not going to get too worked up. But, had UL gone .500 from the FT line down the stretch, they would have dropped 100 points. Last season UK was statistically one of the worst defenses in the country (315 out of 364 for PPG), but was told to hold out hope until Pope could bring in his own team... whatever that means in the NIL era. The early reviews are not good, but again, it's early. And I realize some of that is the pace of play for defensive PPG, but there were a TON of lapses leading to wide open shots for the Cards.

The sad part is, I believe UK only got off one shot in that span. And it was not like UL was forcing shot clock violations.

The pressure was too much on the owner with this, so the move to relieve Nico had to be done before they play the Lakers. I don’t think the ire will go away until Flagg blossoms. But the chances of him having a Luka type impact is incredibly slim. Again, I can come to grips with parting ways, but the little value the Mavs got in return and neglecting to put Luka out there to the highest bidder is the travesty in it all. To relieve a GM after a slow start - absent some kind of scandal - is unprecedented. Jason Kidd will be next if he continues to start Flagg at PG. A position he’s never played in his career. No clue what he is doing.

The crazy part is Nico did A LOT of awesome moves prior to the Luka trade. The owner (who apparently is a piece of work) has practically taken no accountability. You don’t make that kind of move without owner direction and/or authorization.

And like that, Nico is fired.

That would make sense. Lines do not move like that unless there is a last-minute injury, or someone is coming off of an injury.

I am still in wait-and-see mode... though I'm cautiously optimistic. College basketball is in a different place. If five years ago we said that UK and UL would both be hiring two new head coaches at the same time in 2024, with one having an unproven track record at BYU (and the school's 4th? choice), the other with some success, but only at a mid-major, we would get laughed out of the gym. Both fanbases believe there is good energy about things, which is great. But as we know, this is a results-oriented business. To this point, neither has done much, or had much of an opportunity to.

I don't know what any of these power rankings mean this early in the season. Come early December the picture becomes clearer.

Gambling and the manipulation of games have existed as long as sports themselves. Today, there are systems in place to detect some of it, but the evolving bet types have created new problems, specifically prop bets. The Guardians’ scandal is a perfect example: when you can bet on the result of a single pitch, we’ve clearly gone too far. It’s the same story in the NBA — why are there props on fringe players like Terry Rozier’s over/under point total? These kinds of bets don’t enhance the fan (betting) experience; they just open the door for more manipulation.

I put so little value into games this early in the season.

Louisville is a 3.5-point favorite tomorrow, which feels about right.

I know many have tried to play off the season as some kind of Rodgers' resurgance run. And he's had some moments, but by in large he's not much different than what he has been the last several years. A below-average QB that doesn't like getting hit and takes very few risks. His QBR for the year is 44.9. That puts him between Tua (24th) and Kyler (26th).

Correct. Basically, for live ESPN, absent a package deal, you are looking at $30/month. As I understand, Disney is losing $5M/day.
