Anyone??? I noticed someone mentioning some d-line being out with injuries, is he one of them and if so what is the extent of his injury???

And there will be improvement. This group has alot of questions coming into the season, you don't lose the players and the experience that the Devils have lost to graduation easily at this level. That being said, there are many younger players and those who have been back ups before that will step up and fill the holes. It may take a couple of games to get all of the positions sorted out, but this staff does an excellent job of putting players in the best positions for them to be successful.

That is the way Ivan works every year...always shuffling players in and trying different combinations to see what works best. I expect Tuesday to show a little more consistency and give the fans a better idea of what to expect, but even then you still won't know what you might see the first week or two of the regular season. Adjustments will be made, players will be moved around and by the time the end of the year rolls around, none of what happens now will have mattered because the district and regional titles won't be going anywhere except back to Red Devil Lane...:thumb:

Regardless of whether you believe the game should have been suspended due to heat, that is the require action for the safety of those involved. Games should be moved to a later time in the evening so things have a chance to cool down after the sun sets. Not saying there was any wrong doing at this game, just what the procedure should be in this situation. Not having been there, I have no way of knowing what the actual readings might have been; for all I know, the readings were just under the limit and the game went on as planned. Also, being out-of-state, I'm not sure that IN's procedures are the same on this side of the river. However, the KHSAA is following the heat index guidelines established by the American Medical Association and has been for several years now. All schools in Kentucky are required to be following said guidelines, and I believe this is the same for most states. In Kentuck, heat index readings are to be taken prior to the beginning of all activities (practices & games) on the playing surface, through at least September 15. Readings should be taken on the actual game or practice field as they may vary + 5 between fields no more than 50 yards apart due to environmental variances due to differences in sun exposure and air currents. Based on reports I have read, no one was taking readings at HC so they didn't know what the conditions were. Not placing blame with any one individual. A positive result of this tragic death is that high schools around the state, as well as the general public of the Commonwealth, are paying more attention to this issue.

When this happens, notify the KHSAA as the same guidelines apply to games as they do to practices. If the heat index is over 104, ALL outdoor activity is suspended. With not being able to play football without the pads, a heat index over 99 also requires the suspension of football games.

Not saying that...my post was in response to the post regarding the buyout clause and how that should have appeased the folks who got dropped when Harrodsburg was absorbed into Mercer. Jaggers says he is upset for the kids not having a 10th game. If that is the case, then why would the folks at Mercer think that the buyout was enough to appease the teams that were left holding the bage last season?

I believe the amount is agreed to by the parties involved and written into the contract, by which I mean it is not a set amount, some games cost more to get out of than others. While Harrodsburg's opponents were compensated for breech of contract, Jaggers claimed in the article that he was most upset at not having a tenth game for the kids. If that is the case, no amount of money would make up for the cancellation of the game and having an open date...

My point is that considering how Harrodsburg became part of the Mercer County school system, it means many of the same folks were involved in cancelling those games as are now complaining about being left without a game on their schedule. It was OK to do leave Harrodsburgs opponents hanging, but they are now upset as they believe someone else has done something similar to them. Now that the shoe is on the other foot, so to speak, they don't care much for the fit...

And that same year (2005), Russell beat Ashland 21-13 while the same Tomcat team beat the Royals 26-13. Both Russell and Mason won easily over Greenup. Going a little more recent...last season, Mason just got by Boyd County 19-14 while Russell shutout them out en route to a 35-0 thumping. Versus Greenup County, Russell won convincingly 33-6 while the Royals again squeaked by 7-0. Versus Ashland, Russell fell 24-21 in 3 OT's while Mason went down in regulation losing 20-13. I'm assuming Brace and Huron played in these games as well. Any other scores you care to compare???

On a side note, it's interesting how Mercer is all upset over losing a game they expected to be playing...seems like they left ten schools in a similar situation last year. Although I'd imagine those games did have one small difference...going by the timing of the merger, I'd guess most, if not all, of those games had signed contracts already in place. Could be wrong on that but the similarities are there nonetheless.

And that's all well and good. As for what other things McGlone has to take care of, for the last few years he has had to worry about the health of his wife Gloria as she has been battling breast cancer. As for the negative replies, there was NOTHING negative in any reply responding to it. Someone brought his name into the discussion, I merely related how he leaves the paperwork to others whose job it is to do those types of things. Yes, he was asked if there was anyone in particular he wanted to pick up with three new open dates via the reclassification. He told the AD he didn't care who he scheduled with one exception. There was one team he did not want scheduled for various reasons. The AD went out and got three games with opponents willing to play the Red Devils who also had corresponding open dates. Now, as for Vaught's contention that coaches do this sort of thing all the time, maybe he's the one not as in the know as he'd like to think. Coaches I have talked to say they have made verbal agreements with each other before BUT they don't consider it a done deal until the contracts are completed and returned.

We're just saying it's a moot point because Ivan doesn't work that way...he defers to his AD on ALL scheduling matters. He has MUCH more important things to worry about than dealing with game contracts and scheduling dates, etc. It has nothing to do with Jaggers or Cobb, just saying how McGlone operates.

Seems like the last two times Russell and Mason played, the Royals had a little trouble finding paydirt...12-7 and 11-8...and that was with Lofton and Grutza...:thumb:

Exactly why most feel Euton will fall off the list of top coaches...

A couple of years ago several "Raceland" insiders insisted Kasey Clark was going to be a Ram too...last I checked, he graduated as one of Russell's all time great players. Just goes to show you can't always take the word of the so called insiders as their POV is usually tinted to the shade of their favorite team...:thumb:

First, did the Pirates' play with 12? Second, are you implying that the coaches didn't have their best 11 on the field for that game, your post seemed a bit confusing and I'm not exactly sure what you meant. If that is your implication, I would have to question your knowledge of the game and of the coaching staff.

Well, let's just say that when a certain coach says the defensive line pretty much did their job and that the biggest problem was at LB and especially the young guys in the secondary, I'll take his word over any others...:thumb:

I agree, just don't understand some of the negative posts about what seems to be a fine young man and promising future head coach.

Nope, definitely nausea here as well...no need for the extra quarter, but I wouldn't mind seeing the ball moved back.

Unfortunately, it's needed to keep some less than honorable coaches from running up horrendous scores.
