EKU vs North Carolina predictions
thegeneral replied to All Play No Work's topic in College Football
I wish it weren't so, but Eastern is almost 40 spots below TAMCC in the RPI ratings. I realize RPI isn't everything, but a spread that large is a pretty good indicator that Eastern should be seeded lower. Here are the only teams below Eastern, which is No. 127 in the RPI: 135 Niagara (play-in) 143 Weber St. (15) 150 Cent. Conn. St. (16) 164 Florida A&M (play-in) 167 Jackson St. (16) And yeah, this game could get ugly. -
Wayne County 46 Southwestern 41, OT
thegeneral replied to thegeneral's topic in KY Girls Basketball (High School)
You're right. Mea culpa. You're right, too, but at least I wasn't wrong in this case. It's still Wayne's first since '04. They've won in '86, '99, '02, '04 and '07. -
Final from the 12th Region Tournament championship. Back-and-forth game with seven ties, 11 lead changes. Wayne's biggest lead was 9-2 in the first quarter, Southwestern's was 30-27 in the fourth. Wayne was 13-for-42 (34 percent) from the field — 5-for-21 in the first half, 8-for-21 in the second and overtime — and 18-for-25 at the foul line. Southwestern was 14-for-51 (27 percent) from the field — 4-for-24 in the first half, 10-for-27 in the second and overtime — and 11-for-15 at the foul line. Wayne led in rebounds 30-24. Wayne wins its fifth regional title and its first since 2004.

Boyle County to get new look next season

Exactly like the Ravens' logo, actually. It's the same "B" that's inside the Ravens' helmet logo, right down to the color scheme. -
Rockcastle County 76 Casey County 49
thegeneral replied to statmanhensley's topic in KY Girls Basketball (High School)
It was decided early, which would have been surprising no matter which team was winning. Rockcastle led 18-7 after one, then 26-9 and 31-14 in the second quarter and 36-19 at halftime. Casey never threatened in the second half; it was 54-26 late in the third, 69-38 around the middle of the fourth. Rock defended and rebounded very well, and Casey shot very badly. Saylor led Rock with 20 points, Rowe had 17 points and 11 rebounds (seven rebounds in the first quarter), Hammond had 12 points and 12 rebounds (10 points in the second half on 10-for-13 FT shooting). They were also Rock's three all-tourney selections. Tara Weddle led Casey with 16 points. Rock shot 45 percent from the field, Casey shot 27 percent. Rock outrebounded Casey 23-8 in the first half and 44-20 overall. -
Ticket Information for Scott Co v Huntington

Not even as nice as the Gardens? Ugh. -
I'll take the 5th. Central Hardin can probably beat most anybody in the 12th by double digits.

... or POSTPONED games. (critical difference) These are postponed in the 12th Region: Lincoln Co. at Danville Casey Co. at Boyle Co. Cancelled: David at Garrard Co.

Not to add gasoline to your fire (Who am I kidding? Of course I'll add gasoline!) but I'll throw in even more inequities. Football remains tied with tied with volleyball and swimming and behind golf, wrestling and tennis for the number of school days allowed. Wrestling and tennis get two days each, and golf gets four days each for boys and girls (one for region, three for state). Of course you can't play golf at night, but that's still a pretty glaring imbalance.

Former Danville player found dead
thegeneral replied to PRIDENEVERDIES's topic in KY Football (High School)
Sadly, this is true. He graduated from Danville in 1994. He leaves behind a wife and two children. He died Jan. 4, and the funeral was Friday in Danville. http://www.amnews.com/public_html/?module=displaystory&story_id=28239&edition_id=1073&format=html http://www.amnews.com/public_html/?module=displaystory&story_id=28270&edition_id=1074&format=html -
Sorry, I read (incl) as incomplete, not included. My bad.

It has its own nominating committee. Here is their web site: http://www.kyathletichalloffame.org -
Baldridge's Pioneers were 11-1 in 1974. Wins included Danville, Paris, Shelbyville. Lost 8-0 at Bardstown for district title. I have nothing for '73.

Mild upset in the 12th, although it's always tough to win at Casey. Teams shot 55 3-pointers between them (Casey 12-of-26, Southwestern 13-of-29). Casey led entire second half by as many as 13.

Apparently more Rock of Ages than Trinity Rocks.

2007 Class and District Alignments

Approved for two years. -
According to the KHSAA info I read, you can get them through KHSAA or the UofL box office, but it says only in advance. I'd call one or both of them first thing in the morning.

Memorable state final performances
thegeneral replied to hurricane's topic in KY Football (High School)
It pains me that my videotape of that game is buried at the bottom of some box I can't find thanks to a move last year. But at least I know I've still got it somewhere. -

No matter how you or gametime want to word it, you're both right. They're Nos. 1 and 1A. Anyone who says otherwise just didn't see the game. -
Thunder, lightning, and the 4A game?
thegeneral replied to theguru's topic in KY Football (High School)
My guess is that much like the major league baseball game at the back end of a homestand, they'd be willing to wait a long, loooooong time. There is enough shelter on the stadium concourse for fans to wait it out safely (though probably not comfortably), so I think they'd make every effort to play Thursday night, even if that stretches into early Friday morning. Playing a postponed or interrupted game on Friday wouldn't be easy, because the teams would either have to be back out there to finish it at 9 a.m. or so or wait until after 10 p.m. It'd be grossly unfair if not impossible to rearrange the Friday game times the night before. And we already know Saturday's out, so I bet plan B would take them into Sunday afternoon. No matter what the contingency is, it would'nt be very good, and you just know the very possibility of it is making their heads explode. -
