  1. A question from someone who hasn't been to Jackson in a long time: When my school played game at Jackson City 20+ years ago, there were girls games in the 300-seat crackerbox, but the boys played in what was then the Lees College gym. Does that gym still exist, and what is it used for? And if it's still open, why doesn't the high school use it?
  2. Absolutely right. Pendleton is very much in northern Kentucky, and so are counties like Mason and Robertson and Harrison. They certainly aren't central. And speaking purely from geography, you could say the same thing about counties as far down as Owen and Henry and Oldham and maybe even Jefferson.
  3. DeSales came from 10 points down in the final 4 or 5 minutes of regulation. South Laurel seemed to be within one possession of putting the game away a time or two, but it never happened. DeSales tied the game with about :25 left. South then held for one shot but DeSales played good defense and Allen missed from outside. DeSales went up by five in a hurry at the start of the OT, then it was seven, then it was basically over. DeSales went up by nine I think, South got it down to six in the final minute but that was it. A double-bonus foul and a technical on Hammonds sealed the deal as DeSales hit three of four free throws, but South was really already done by then.
  4. Shouldn't be much of a struggle, should it?. Lincoln beat Garrard by 40+ just last week.
  5. I was agreeing with the point -- and your earlier post -- in a roundabout way, saying the move doesn't have much impact on Louisville and its hotels, because the core of non-partisan fans is really pretty small, especially compared to the hoops fans. Sidebar question: Wouldn't they be inclined to play a 3-and-3 format (Fri.-Sat.) with 6 classes?
  6. The hotels probably will lose a little on this deal, but I'd bet the money they make on finals weekend is just a drop in the bucket for them anyway. It's not something that's going to make or break their balance sheet, and it's certainly not as much as the Lex. hotels get from the Sweet 16.
  7. This association's schools run from Harrison County in the north, skips to Clark County and covers pretty much everything from Clark, Madison, Jessamine and Anderson counties all the way south to Russell County and the three schools in Pulaski County. They have an all-star game in June, but this is not the list for that game because only seniors play in that game and this list includes underclassmen. Think of this as like an all-conference team. Two players were picked from every school, regardless of the school's class or record. And no, I don't know how they were picked, but I do have the full list: NORTH Anderson County: Zack Burford, K; Matt Franklin, LB. Boyle County: Josh Miller, TE; Seth Tamme, WR. Danville: Darius Baughman, Ath; Deangleo Durham, DL. East Jessamine: Troy Brooks, OL; Rex Hager, RB. Franklin County: Kaelin Ammons, QB; Shane McDonald, WR George Rogers Clark: Kalan Perdue, OL; Robbelle Rogers, S. Harrison County: Tyler Fryman, OL; Chris Marshall, OL. Harrodsburg: Brandon Ford, RB; Cory Jackson, RB. Mercer County: Josh Hardman, OL; Donald Walker, RB. West Jessamine: Eric Coker, QB; Joseph Guthrie, DE. Western Hills: Kyle Coleman, OL; Charles Keene, DB. SOUTH Casey County: Ricky Marrapodi, RB; Marcus Patterson, DB. Garrard County: Bruce Williams, LB; Kendall Young, OL. Lincoln County: Trent Calhoun, RB; Jacob Elliot, LB. Madison Central: Ronnie Letcher, LB; Paul Warford, QB. Madison Southern: Robert Dees, DB; Luke Stocker, TE. Pulaski County: Blake Gumm, DL; John Perkins, QB. Rockcastle County: Mathew Burkhart, QB; Mikey Denny, OL. Russell County: Chris Coffey, DB; Nick Huckaby, QB. Somerset: Ray Norman, WR; Scott Newell, RB. Southwestern: Josh Minton, DE; Jordan Waltars, LB.

  9. The paper must be using the same link for a different story now. The link goes to a story about next year's Nelson County elections.
  10. The AP team is being released Thursday 12/1. Mr. Football, too. So voting is probably going on now.
  11. Marty Brennaman was doing Danville games? The Reds must not pay like they used to.

  13. This is running the same course as this thread from March about splitting four classes into five that drew over 250 posts: http://www.bluegrasspreps.com/showthread.php?t=63381&highlight=classes Certificates of participation and ice cream cones for everyone!!!
  14. Can I throw in a vote for "none?" I couldn't see any of those teams or the other defeated teams winning it all.
  15. I don't think very many radio/TV outlets ever participate, although the ones that do are probably faithful. On one hand, AP would love to have as much participation as possible. On the other hand, would it be better served by a regularly voting panel? The AP college football/basketball polls are voted on by a panel of 60-ish journalists organized before each season. On the whole, one poll is as good or bad as the next. But I'd prefer any poll of multiple voters over an indecipherable one-man ratings system any day.
