This one may be interesting. I do think Butler will win. Western seems to have not had to go thru an adjustment period with the new coach, Preston King had them ready for Central. Western was up 12-0 at half and early in the fourth quarter were looking to score and the kid reached for the pylon but fumbled on the one yard line and it went into the endzone for a touchback. Central finally put together a 80 yard drive to score then I think they got an onside kick ( the kickoff was missing from trade video) and scored again in a short field to win. If that kid hadn't fumbled Western goes up 18-0 and probably too much for Central to make up.

Fern Creek (2-0) is at Central (2-0) in the first meeting of the Tigers and Yellowjackets since the 2000 season opener at Fern Creek, when Central won 20-0. The 2017 season began with unfamiliar territory for Central, former Coach Scroggins stepped down and his replacement, Head Coach Marvin Dantzler is new to Louisville coming from Oklahoma and Louisiana. Central has adapted well with the change. Central won a defensive battle on the road at Manual, then struggled early offensively at Western then got it together in the fourth quarter with 13 unanswered points for the win. QB Rico White has completed 14 of 30 passes with 1 interception in two games, for 176 yards and 2 touchdowns. White has rushed 24 times for 73 yards. Takaius Linton is the leading rusher with 37 carries for 165 yards and 1 TD. Ukari Baker is the top Receiver with 8 receptions for 124 yards and 2 TD. On defense Luke Bowman has 20 tackles and 3 sacks, Grover Russell has 12 tackles and a sack. Fern Creek won easily over Seneca, then battled back with a come fro behind win over Manual snapping a 7 year losing streak to the Crimsons. Isaiah Hester has completed 7 of 14 passes, 1 interception, 140 yards and 2 touchdowns. Dylan Dunbar has 27 carries for 176 yards and 4 touchdowns, Anthony Teague has 17 carries for 148 yards and 2 touchdowns. Damon Durrah has 2 receptions for 90 yards, 2 touchdowns. Melvin Blakey has 3 receptions for 33 yards, Quartus Hearn 2 receptions for 17 yards. On defense the Tigers are lead by Senior Class President and Linebacker Armon Wells, Wells has 22 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, 1 forced fumble and 1 interception. Brayden Oberhausen has 13 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, 1 sack. RJ Williams 9 tackles, 1 sack. Central will be playing their first home game this season, while Fern Creek faces their first of three straight road games. Last week both teams struggled early offensively before getting it together late to come from behind and win. Both teams will need a better offensive start to go to 3-0

Allen County Scottsville (2-0) isn't ranked in 4A but have started strong with convincing wins over Hart County 39-7, and Barren County 48-7. This week they travel to the Greenwood Gators (1-1). Greenwood won their first game 37-12 over Warren Central, then fell in their second to Warren East losing 31-37. Last season Greenwood won 35-27, will the Gators previal again or do the Patriots carry their momentum to a win?

After starting the season with a win, both Owensboro and Owensboro Catholic lost in their second games to teams from Evansville, IN. Owensboro fell 20-21 in overtime to Mater Dei and Owensboro Catholic lost 0-34 to Reitz. This week Owensboro Catholic is at Owensboro as both teams seek to rebound from their losses. Last season Catholic won 34-29. Which team is able to get back on track in the cross town rivalry?

Armon Wells for Fern Creek, Linebacker and Senior Class President had 14 tackles, 3 tackles for loss, a forced fumble, and the interception that sealed the victory.

Madison Central (1-1) rebounded from a loss to Lexington Catholic 24-34 by routing Woodford County this week 53-7. Southwestern had another big win taking down Dunbar 50-0. Will the Warriors keep it up with another big win or do the Indians stand a chance?

Christian County is 2-0 after beating Rossview, TN 18-7. This week they travel to Henderson County. Henderson has split games against two Indiana Opponents, losing to Reitz 0-41, then beating Evansville North 21-3. Last season Christian County won 41-7.

Covington Catholic coming off another strong win and set to become 5A #1 after the Purples loss to PRP, host Cooper 0-2. Cooper has lost to two decent teams in Highlands and Newport Central Catholic, and schedule does them no favors in week 3. Does anyone think Cooper can pull off the upset or will The Colonels roll?

After the injury FC squib kicked and Manual took over their own 37. QB Collin scrambled for 11. Then completed a few passes to sideline to get down to FC 29. First down pass knocked away, second down pass knocked down and almost intercepted by Durrah. Third down Manual was flagged for illegal shift negating a 20 y pass down to nine. On 3rd and 15 Conlin sacked for 1 y losss. On 4th down LB Armon Wells intercepts and goes right to the ground on FC 15. Teague runs for no gain, Manual called timeout. Then Teague breaks a 63 y run down to Manual 22. Fern Creek ends the game in victory formation.

Manual scored on 12 y run by Marcus Floyd , Kopp kick. Manual 10 FC 7. Then FC was forced to punt. Manual drive went to FC 29 but ended on downs. cCreek QB Hester was intercepted by Floyd at the Manual 41. On 3rd down Manual's TE Overstreet caught a short pass but was stripped and FC recovered on FC 49. On 2nd down Damon Durrah catches a medium pass and goes 51 y for the TD, Oberhausen kick. A Manual player was injured on PAT, I think it was played who dove to block the kick. We are in an extended delay waiting on ambulance.

I think Oldham County gets it together this week. In the first game they had dropped TD passes, touchdowns called back, a penalty on 4th down that allowed Henry Co to tie it up late. Just correcting a few of those mistakes should help them get the W.

Going for 2 could help prevent running up the score by shortening the game. Last week we went up 40-0 with 4:30 left in 2nd qtr. the 3rd and 4th qtr both had just one series for each team.

Fern Creek has around 30 this year. Last years team was blessed with running backs. This year we have lots of big linemen, one is huge and pretty skilled for a freshman. In the scrimmage vs PRP the freshmen teams each got 10 offensive plays at halftime. The young Tigers looked good, scored on a long catch and run. The QB throws well, several targets some speedy guys and a 6-2 WR that had several catches and the 2 pt pass. Also have a couple good running backs. On defense FC shut out the PRP freshmen recovering a fumble and keeping them from scoring in their 10 plays. They do face a tough schedule playing Trinity, DeSales, Butler, Manual, and Central as well as our district. Also talks to schedule Male but would have to have someone cancel first.

Owensboro (1-0) faces Evansville Mater Dei (0-1) at 6:30 on Saturday Aug 26th at Owensboro in the Independence Bank Border Bowl. Owensboro defeated Madisonville North Hopkins 41-19 in their first game. Mater Dei fell 38-18 to Lutheran North (MO). Last season both teams made it to the regional finals of their respective playoffs. Owensboro finished 10-3, Mater Dei finished 8-5 Who wins?

Christian County plays Rossview from TN on Aug 25th, 5:30 pm in the Toyota of Hopkinsville, Jerry Claiborne Bowl. Christian Co (1-0) beat Caldwell County 27-10. Rossview TN (0-1) lost to Clarksville TN 15-13. Last Season Christian Co. lost to Bowling Green in the second round, finishing 9-3. Rossview finished 5-6 losing to Memphis Central in the first round of the TN 5A playoffs. Who wins?

Fern Creek (1-0) got off to a hot start returning the opening kickoff for a TD and never looked back walloping Seneca 52-0. Manual was shut out losing to 3A power Central 7-0, their first shutout loss since the 2015 season ending 36-0 loss to Male in the 2nd round of the playoffs. it was Central first win in 7 years vs Manual. The game was a defensive battle with Central's score coming after a shanked punt gave them the ball on the Manual 29. Manual only threatened once missing a field goal after returning a fumble to the Central 20. Last season Manual shut out Fern Creek 14-0 in a game dominated by Manual's big linemen. 2017 will see two different teams, Manual graduated a lot and are down to 44 varsity players. The Crimsons defense is still stout but can they get their offense on track? Fern Creek also graduated a lot replacing their entire offensive backfield. The Tigers defense held Seneca to 62 yards. In a defensive battle whose offense can get it done Fern Creek or Manual?

Greenwood (1-0) faces Warren East (1-0) in the Citizens First Bowl at WKU, Saturday Aug 26th at 8pm. Greenwood beat Warren Central 27-12 and now face Warren East who beat Portland (TN) 21-0. Can the Gators keep it going again favored vs an opponent from Warren County or do the Raiders have a chance?

Dixie Heights looks to rebound after a loss to Campbell County by hosting the Scott Eagles. Scott also looking for their first win of 2017 falling to Newport Central Catholic 17-7. Dixie led 16-0 at halftime, then Campbell County went to a running attack as a halftime adjustment and came back to win 27-23. Last season Dixie Heights beat Scott 34-7, will the Colonels again take down the Eagles?
