Whitley's field is very nice; just got to see it recently.

Any of about 3 of those mid 70's Somerset teams could be their best. If it hadn't been for Steve Chandler (I think), the Jumpers may have won a couple more state titles.

Pulaski '98 runner-up '99 champs '00 champs '02 champs '04 runner-up I want to say that Boyle was back-to-back in '95 and '96, but it may have been a year later.

I remember going to a football game where it was a little better than $1000.

Does the Cocoa Expo still use professional umpires for their games?

After reading the Herald Leader today, I was thinking something that never gets much talk around Somerset concerning girls basketball. Pulaski got rid of Mike Sowers a few years ago, or let the parents get rid of him, and now he'e coaching the #3 team in the state in Dunbar, while Pulaski has been mediocre at best. It's odd that no one ever discusses this....

Will Somerset swoon after the "All A" as in recent years? They have a lot of talent, just didn't look together last night.

Yes, Somerset returns nearly their whole squad, minus Molen and Moody. The loss of Moody (shortstop) will hurt them more than some think, but they will be very tough. Rock will always have good arms, and as long as Bussell is there, will be a tough out. People forget that, even though Somerset has advanced to the region championship game the last two years, Rock has won the district both seasons. Pulaski will still be young. Better, but young. If they can get all their freshmen to come out for baseball, they should be pretty good by the end of the season. They can be back to Pulaski's standards by next year.

I know Boyle was slated to host it, but Julian said that they still needed to check to see if the field had been modified to fit the specs. Hadn't heard anything.

I'm not well-informed on the rosters of the 45th, other than knowing that Boyle and Danville lost top-tier pitchers (two in Danville's case). Honestly, I think Lincoln will be stronger than Danville this season. Overall, should be a pretty well-balanced region. Anyone know if the regional tourney will still be held at Boyle?

Maybe the only time in history that Pulaski Baseball has been compared to Casey County. Wow. BTW, the 47th is still one of the 2 toughest districts in the region. Just going by last year in the region tourney, Somerset beat Mercer and West, while Rock slapped the Cooper kid from Boyle around.

I think Pulaski will be relying heavily on young kids (fr. and soph), if they play at all. Several of the better middle schoolers have said that they may not play. Somerset, Mercer, and West should lead the pack.

Did Title IX just now make it to Letcher County? How do you not plan ahead to keep this from happening?

Are the folks that redid the football field doing baseball also? They'd better hurry and get some seed down if they want grass by next spring.
