CAL takes a 1-0 lead heading into the bottom of the 1st. Edge started shaky walking the leadoff hitter on 4 pitches.

I'll admit that I don't know much about CAL, obviously they must be better than their record would indicate. Apollo's bats were pretty hot this week. I expected Daniel Webb would shut them down, but they jumped all over him getting 9 or 10 hits before he was pulled. They continued to hit well through the lineup the next game as well. Apollo really doesn't have a dominate pitcher, but they have 3 really good ones in Tyler Edge, Skyler Shown, and Ethan Blandford. Apollo also has the experience playing at Applebee's. Every started except for Freshman Luke Daughtery and 8th grader Dalton West have been to state previously. I think Apollo is capable of advancing pretty far, if things go there way. Unless an upset happens PRP will be waiting for the winner of this game in the next round. They got burned pitching down last year, so maybe they will throw Cox in the 1st round against Christian Co.

IMO, it certainly looks as if the ball hits the batter's helmet prior to hitting the ump.

The Eagles sweep the Pirates and will return to Applebee's Park. Skyler Shown went the distance given up only 5 hits. Tyler Edge's double in the 1st inning with the bases loaded put the Eagles ahead for good. Edge ended up with with 4 RBI's Apollo's Richie Stanley was named MVP of the semi-state. Apollo will play Christian Academy of Louisville Thursday at 12:30

Apollo was swinging the bats about as well as I have seen them this season. Webb was taken out in the 6th. Apollo's Edge looked really good only gave up 2 or 3 hits.

So the field is set, who do you like to advance to Applebee's Park, and who do you think will win it all. Keep in mind the first round is best of three. That is the thing about baseball though. IMO, more than any other sport, one player can change the outcome of the game. Is it an upset for Heath to beat PRP with Webb on the mound? Not really, but anyone else pitches and it would be. I love the semi-state round. In baseball the one and done doesn't really mean the best team has the best chance to win. Pitching matchups are a big factor in the outcome.

All of todays games have been postponed. The first two scheduled games will be played tomorrow night and the other two will be Wednesday.

I don't like how some teams are in 6 team districts while other in the same class are in a 4 team district.

Apollo gave up 5 runs in the top of the 2nd and had 2 errors during the inning. The gifts were more than enough for PRP. Can't remember who pitched for PRP, but is wasn't Cox. I thought Tyler Edge pitched rather well for Apollo even though they lost. Very wind game, every infield pop up was an adventure.

Paul Bates will take over for the departed Jeff Carlberg. Bates has been a part of the Eagles coaching staff since 2001.

Cole Sturgeon of Owensboro Catholic is one of the better sophs in the state for sure.

I'd say that is about right. PRP has one loss to a Florida team I know nothing about. Apollo is undefeated, and St. X has two losses one to Brentwood Academy and one to Manual who has a 9-5 record.

If the author is trying to discredit Texas, it's not really surprising that they don't lead the states for players signng with SEC / ACC teams. Might want to throw in the Big 12 to those totals and I'm guessing it would be dramatically different.

What difference would it make? They were up 32-0 after the 1st. Would you have them put in a lesser pitcher so that the other team might get some hits and extend the game. That game needed to be over ASAP. It seems that many on here are of the opinion that not only should Anderson not try to score, but that perhaps they should let Emenience get a few hits, score a few runs to make them feel better about themselves of something. This isn't youth league baseball, this is high school.
