Great night for the battle of Union.

I fully expect Conner to improve as the year goes on under Rash. They had there moments, just were overmatched with Ryle. Even flat Ryle took care of business.

I still remember the butt whippin we got in regular season when Hergott was a 1st year senior from Beechwood. So the chest thumping should be muted from us Ryle folks. JMHO. It's just a scrimmage.

My take on the scrimmage: 1. It's a scrimmage 2. Both teams kinda came out with business mentalities'. IE. flat 3. Highlands move the ball with consistency. 4. Ryle still showed big play ability. 5. Both teams played bland. 6. It will be a battle again in the regular season matchup. 7. Highlands will be a force in their division. 8. Ryle will run through NKY 6a. 9. Who cares, WHO KNOWS, enjoy the season! 10. In KY, it's all practice till the playoffs!

A few player definitely make a difference in high school football.

Beechwood has some nice players. They were competitive. I think they were a few players short and fighting above their weight class. I fully expect them to be in the Title game again this year.

Yes, from Jv. I doubt any of the middle schoolers moving up will see any varsity time. There was a time we had dominate talent in 7th and 8th grades that never translated to varsity wins. That subtle breeze is blowing a bit different the last few years.

Ryle lost a few key athletes, no doubt. I'm hearing that they believe they will improve. They are very excited with what they have coming up and coming back. Will they be better than this year? We'll see. Either way it's must see tv in NKY.

I like Rick Honiker. Had the pleasure of watching him for more than a handful of years. Great leader, great mentor of young men. Film study is A+++. Led a Ryle defense to over achieve the talent they had. He would make a difference. Has had major success as a OC in GA. at New Hampstead High School. So I believe he'd be good on both sides of the ball. NKY roots are a plus. I personally like the guy and know his character. They couldn't do better IMHO.

At that point does he believe?

If your guy misses three in a row I'd give him the night off. His mental will be blown.
