It's a quick turnaround for both schools after playing on Friday night.  Highlands seems pretty banged up or just not healthy.  I know there has been just some illness going around that has sidelined some important personnel.

No idea what type of format this game might be.  Will it be more of a practice but against another team than a scrimmage.  I think the Bengals sometimes do that with some NFL teams when they come into town.

If anyone has more insight of the format, heck even the time (other than it being Tuesday) or place.  Will it be even open to the public?  I don't know these questions.  Interestingly, I looked on both the Highlands Athletics website and the Ryle Athletics website and NEITHER website during my research even showcases this on the School team calendar.....but maybe its buried somewhere that I can't find....

In other news, Highlands just made a new hire this morning after seeing so many injuries and illnesses to get them to 100% for the Freddy D game 2 weeks from now.

Go BIRDS!

Ryle started first offensive and defensive series w/out Verax, Savage, and Lyons and it showed.  Sloppy game by Ryle. Too many penalties with the 35 refs out there.

  • QB’s will be non-contact for this one .

According to the hype it should be  a shut out. Does Highlands have any chance?

Should be a great game. Highlands has dominated the scrimmages over the past few years. Ryle won last year’s regular season game in OT. I think these 2 teams are evenly matched.

I’ll take Ryle by 7 tomorrow.

I know Highlands is Highlands, but does it seem like these 2 scrimmages are being hyped more than a regular Season game?

By the BGP crowd. Seems like a very high interest level, by the majority of members. I like it, it’s hard to get people really interested in scrimmages. Good luck to both teams.

Smart move by both teams.

Maxpreps preseason rankings have Highlands 10 pts better. I think they have Ryle way too low at #21. Highlands is #6.

Just so everyone knows, this is not a scrimmage in the context most people think.  As already mentioned, QB is not live.  I have always understood this scrimmage as a situational type.  Both teams working on things much like a joint practice.  In fact, the entire Northern Kentucky Officials Association will be doing training at this event.

Here is the thread from last year which has a link to the thread from the 2023 scrimmage.  In short, I like JOAT's characterization of a joint practice.

Why in the world is this being played on a Tuesday?

Highlands has their Blue/White "scrimmage" Friday so it makes sense to me.  Plus, it gives both teams three extra days to prepare for the first game.
