Yes. Flaget was also in the west end. Very good program back in the day. Paul Hornung, Oscar Brohm, and Howard Schnellenberger are just a few notable names the Braves produced. Flaget tied Thomas Jefferson (now-defunct Jefferson Co. public HS) 6-6 in the 3A title game in 1971. That Cov. Cath game is one of the closest contest the Braves played in that season.

Rocks move to 1-0 on pride week. Trinity host the three soccer games Wednesday. Freshman football game Thursday at St. X

Bullitt East has rebounded nicely after that 0-2 start but I believe that Manual will be too much for the Chargers. The Crimsons should win this one by 2-3 touchdowns, at least.

I have to go with my Shamrocks in this rivalry battle. Really like what I've seen out of this offense so far. Johnson is getting better week by week and the Rocks just get deeper in both the running and passing game with every contest. Nate Shields' return is a big lift to a good O-line. Playmakers all over the defensive side of the ball with a nasty D-line and som true athletes in the secondary. Will this be an easy win for the Rocks? By no means do I think so. I have not been able to watch too much of St. Xavier so far this season but do know the Tigers will be tough. Trimble has impressed as an athletic and mobile QB. Harbin is a known commodity on O and the same is true of Busch on Defense. I expect the two Louisville commits to give the Rocks a ton of trouble. And as always, the Tigers have athletes and playmakers all over the field. Fully expect a classic Trinity-St. Xavier battle on Friday night. Think and hope the Rocks pull out the win but will be close. Maybe 1-2 TDs.

On Friday night, the Trinity Shamrocks and the St. Xavier Tigers will take the field at L&N Stadium in the newest edition of one of the greatest high school rivalries in Kentucky, and nationally. Trinity, back-to-back defending 6A champions, enter the game with a 4-1 record and coming off a 46-0 blowout victory at rival Male. St. Xavier sports a 4-1 record and is coming off a home 26-24 loss to Elder (OH). The Shamrocks and Tigers first met on the varsity level in 1956 and the two Catholic rivals have played every year since. Entering Friday night, Trinity holds a 50-41-2 edge in the series. St. Xavier’s Kevin Wallace does have a 3-2 edge versus Trinity’s Jay Cobb. St. Xavier won last year’s game which was an odd-ball as hurricane rains and wind moved the game to Saturday and to St. Xavier. Marlon Harbin took the opening kickoff back for a TD. The Tigers won 16-10 in a game which (if my memory is correct) they controlled through the final whistle. How do we think this year’s rendition will unfold?

That's the sentiment felt by most everyone I was sitting around last night. Similar tones were echoed from Trinity coaches and players last night and today. But a win is a win and the Rocks ended up dominating.

A blowout win for DeSales and QB Cameron Bischoff sets records.

Trinity starting LT Nate Shields returned from injury for this one and while it looked like he had some rust early in the game, eventually showed his domination. Big point of this win was Trinity's ability to win the battle at the line of scrimmage and that goes for both sides of the football.

I expected Trinity to win this one and thought it might even be a "blowout" in the end. But in no way, shape, or form, did I expect the outcome we got. Especially with the history of this rivalry and the big night for a new Maxwell Field. Trinity came out sloppy and it felt close at half. However, Trinity shifted gears in the third quarter and Male simply could not keep up.

The vast majority of coaches who I've known and have heard talked about this idea over the years are against the shot clock. I do not think this is a good idea.

Schedules starting to trickle out and most should be fully over the next month. Some dates within the opening weeks I see worth circling in the 7th region. From what has been rumored over the past few days, it sounds like Male is trying to get the field done by Friday. If not I've heard Moore or J-Town will be the site. Both of those schools got turf last year.

Last year's game was an absolute classic. I have a feeling it won't be the same this year. Rocks should get the win by multiple TDs.

Will have to read into this one more but I expected this to be a good game and looks like it was. Hats off to Atherton for the improvement shown in recent years. Manual, however, still got the win as I expected.

Was another big win and solid showing for the Rocks tonight. The season marches on. At Male next week then the big meeting with St. X.

Should also add that Friday night's game will feature Trinity welcoming back a former head coach as Kevin Wright leads Carmel. He led the Rocks to an 11-2 record as the head man in 1999. Trinity's season ended the year with a playoff loss to Bryan Station, 31-21.

Forgot about Belfry to be honest. Would have them in that third-tier as they have had a lot of success but more recently. Similar to CAL
