You are spot on. Green moved the ball pretty well and the RB is tough as nails. The fumble on that first drive really hurt them and then going for it on fourth down deep in their own territory really broke their spirits.

If they make it this would be their 5th time. They are 0 and 4 in the previous tries.

Mayfield continues to show why those of us in the region have feared them and will always have an eye what they are doing every Friday night. This is an impressive win against the team I thought was the favorite in 2A. Congrats Cardinals.

The Aces threw some haymakers early in this game and landed everyone of them. Green is not a bad looking football team but they looked shell shocked early and couldn’t recover. The Aces have basically given up on running the football they still continue gain huge chunks in the passing game.

Catholic up 13-0 6:33 left in first qtr. Greene was moving the ball on their first drive and fumbled deep in OC territory.

From my perspective as an OC fan here in the western side of state we will always view Mayfield as a favorite. They are the premier “smaller” school and even this year if you are at an OC game people wonder about what Mayfield is doing. You will also hear a lot about LCA, probably because that game last year was so close, and even less about Beechwood. I just don’t think we have had any reason to think about Beechwood and they get brushed aside. Not being disrespectful it’s just hasn’t been a team we have had to face.

Floyd has given this DC offense a little bit of life and that should be enough to keep it close if NH is gonna turn the ball over 3+ times a game like they have been doing.

Strong performance for the devils. Gotta be proud of their effort after an up and down season.

I will be real interested to hear from the OHS people on this one. I don’t think Madisonville got a ton of respect but they look like a quality team.

I was unable to attend but listened to a little of the first half. Aces had a running clock with about 4 minutes left in the first quarter and then led 50-0 at the half. Next up is the bye week for the Aces.

48-12 aces at the half

It’s crazy to think about but I didn’t think Catholic played their best game on offense. Atwell missed some throws he normally hits but they still managed almost 450 yards through the air with 6 TDs. The Aces basically abandoned the run game and I think only had around 20 yards rushing. Hendersons size advantage up front was the big worry and there were moments that they gashed OC, they finished with almost 300 yards. When the score got cut to 20-14 midway through the third I thought the Aces were in trouble but they answered with a TD, a stop, and another TD and that was pretty much the ball game.

I do agree about the defense. They have traditionally been able to rely on the defense even when the offense has had struggles. Right now they are gonna have a hard time stopping anyone. They did do way better against the Aces than the previous 3 teams so there is that.

The rest of the season looks very winnable for the Devils. Next game against Graves will be tough but I think they win out.

New to the board and really enjoying the conversation. I thought Atwell was in on the previous play anyway so every call evens out. Nice job by both teams. The devils wore the aces out in the second half but the big early lead allowed Catholic to hang on.
