I am still disappointed that Dc and Grayson don’t get a chance on the championship game, more because I can’t get there for the semifinal game. I think both teams win easily in round 1. I feel like both Thursday games have potential to be very good. Trinity doesn’t have some of the big names in this region but they are well coached and I think they have a real shot to squeak this one out. The battle of the eagles is gonna be a classic as well. I think both teams have been solidly in that 3rd/4th place for this region but I gotta go with Ohio Co in this one. I am a sucker for the three point shot and Ohio Co isn’t afraid of putting them up.

I would still be shocked if it’s anyone but Daviess or Grayson. Despite the Panthers not playing great the last couple weeks they still have the most talent and that goes a long way when it comes to down to players just making plays. Grayson is pretty close talent wise and they aren’t scared of DC at all. If they played tonight I would take the Cougars in a classic.

Depth was always the concern for them. I don't see them having an issue with Owensboro in the district opener but beyond that they can't take anyone for granted.

I know that question was directed at Apollofan but I don’t see DC the same way I did weeks ago. They have not looked great the last couple weeks and I am sure that can be attributed to some guys missing time and kids being kids and losing focus late in the season. I just expected them to be a well oiled machine right now and they are not.

At this point I would say these teams are even. I wouldn’t be surprised with either winning and a month ago I would have been shocked if it wasn’t DC. Gonna be a great region tournament!

I can’t figure out this O Cath team. In a 2 week period they have gone toe to toe with DC, beat Greenwood, beat Apollo, beat Ohio Co, but lost to Owensboro and Breck.

Daviess ended up losing Saturday to Princeton(IN) with Moss sitting out. Princeton is a good team but I would think if DC had Moss they should have beaten them easily. It obviously doesn’t look good for DC to struggle at this point in the year but I would guess that once the postseason starts the will be back to mid season form.

I think Payne and his supporters trying to play the victim here is really disappointing.

He admitted it was a violation of the rules.

You might have to explain why its sad what was done to Coach Payne. He admitted he broke the rules.

What is interesting to me is which team is the third best in this region? Catholic, Ohio, Muhlenberg, and Apollo are all right there. I lean towards Ohio and then Catholic.

Grayson and Daviess are definitely on a whole different level compared to the rest of the region. If either team is playing even average I don't think anyone is realistically within 20 points of them. My hope is that its both teams in the region final and not a round before.

Congrats to both teams for taking care of business. I don’t think it’s surprising at all that this is the matchup but it might be a bit surprising how dominant they were. The Devils haven’t been held under 40 since early September but the Pulaski defense has been super stingy, especially recently. I think Pulaski will limit Owensboro some but at the end of the day they have so many weapons and I will take the Devils 31-21.

I remember this last year, I couldn't believe the Aces people would stoop so low as to compliment the speed and athleticism of Beechwood.

I just have a hard time seeing Woodford holding that devil offense to 14. They haven't scored under 40 since the OCath game in September.

That will be a big problem for the Aces because their WRs struggled to get open against Somerset and Beechwood is far more athletic in the secondary.

I see LCA winning this by a few scores. I think they are solidly the number 2 in 2A after how they dominated Mayfield. I also don’t know a ton about Belfry since David Jones and Doug Howard aren’t there anymore.

The Aces will have to play perfect to keep this tight. They will probably need to win the turnover battle by a couple and will have to play a little keep away which is not really their style. I have thought Beechwood was far and away the best team in 2A this year and I don’t see that changing. I will take Beechwood in this one 42-14

I expect a big win this Friday for the devils, as does everyone else when you look at the poll, and I think they are definitely a favorite for the 5A title. Having said that it makes it hard for me to understand how that would make the devils a "flying under the radar" team.

I honestly can see this game going either way. Somerset will be able to run the ball against OC and if it’s close going into the fourth then the Aces defense could be worn out. I do think the Aces have enough firepower to win this because Carothers and that offense are really playing well. The big question for me is can that defense limit the amount of long drives that they give up against that big Somerset o-line?

As I said in the Hancock/Caldwell thread, if Hancock uses the same gameplan they did against OC then they will get pounded. They didn’t even try and throw the ball and on defense they tried to press the Catholic WRs and OC got a lot of big plays in the first half.

I don’t think so. I will be surprised if Hancock is able to keep it from a running clock. Against OC they didn’t complete a pass. They had some success running the ball, especially against the OC JV. I don’t think they can come in with same gameplan against Mayfield.

I gotta go with Somerset here. It’s a great looking squad that has the potential to surprise one of the perceived “top 5” teams. Danville has been a great story this year and they will be able to really build on this for years to come.
