Scott County needs to get to Goodin early and often. The kid is very good with his legs and if the stats tell a story, its that his receivers have done a good job of catching the balls that come their way. Goodin is completing 61% of his passes for 12 TDs to 1 INT. Leading receiver is #17 Delaney with 465 yards. Goodin is the leading rusher for Collins averaging over 9 yards a carry with 8 tds.

Coming off a loss to Manual, Cooper(2-3) looks to start the district slate on the right foot. Look for Maher, Campbell, and O'Hara to lead the Jaguar offense while Wethington, Bolen, and Duncan lead the defense. Conner(1-4) comes in off of a loss to Simon Kenton. Lead on offense by QB Montgomery, RB Abernathy, and WR Depenbrock, the Cougars will bring a balanced offensive attack to Longbranch in an attempt to win their first game over Cooper since 2021 in the first round of the playoffs. The Cougars are lead on defense by Hernandez, Keen, and Dozier. If you're the type to believe the weatherman, it looks to be a week of wet weather with chances of thunderstorms on Friday to throw a wrench in all of it. Good luck to both teams!

I had a feeling Manual would be a challenge for Cooper. I did not anticipate Manual running at will. Their speed was not something for which Cooper was prepared.

Understood. Most years Male and Douglas would throttle Harvest Prep. I understand you're talking about this year.

LOL. Harvest prep is a division 5 school in OHIO(D1 in ohio is the largest, D7 is the smallest). They're a solid program, but they're in no way shape or form equivalent to Male or Douglas. If WOFO had beaten Ironton or South Range, then you'd have a point.

IDK what they returned from last season, but WOFO was crazy athletic last year. Collins is a scary team due to their QB. Kid is very very good. Can hurt you with his arm and legs. If Cooper is able to beat Manual this week, I'd find it hard to believe there is another 5A team with better wins than theirs.

I watched that play live on the broadcast. They broke the huddle on the sideline, then all 11 ran past the numbers, #14 for BC then ran back to the sideline, facing the coaches, ball was snapped, he was wide open. I've seen the play run before. It was legal.

Obviously BC stopped the run, and ran effectively. that's what wins games, especially when the team is 13-32 passing. Of those 24 runs, how many were Lorenzen? Half? Less than half? Was Lorenzen at QB for any of those 32 passes? This isn't a "unique to Highlands" problem. It seems to be an offensive coordinator trait in general. They get bored running the same play, so they switch it up and do other things, before you know it, you're behind the chains or off schedule and forced out of doing what you're good at. I don't understand it. Highlands has a 270 lb-ish average on their Oline. RUN THE DANG BALL BERT! My HS coach used to quote Woody Hayes all the time. "There are only 3 things that can happen when you pass, and 2 of em are bad." And he'd follow it up with, "if we get 3 yards, we're gonna line up and run the same play until they stop it for less than 3. Then I'm gonna call it again to make sure it wasnt a fluke." Those were the days. 3 yards and a cloud of dust. Now everybody has turf. I miss a good grass field. I obviously didn't watch the game, but it seems BC made them abandon the run and that won them the game.

Cooper plays Manual next week, so that in itself should give a decent comparison between Atherton and Cooper.

Cooper is lucky. I know a bunch of Jags that just love to see that typed out. Nothing better than winning the rivarly game after hearing about how you were gonna get smoked all week then opening up the internet and reading the excuses. You just love to see it.

Campbell County comes to Cooper after falling at Highlands. Cooper coming of the upset victory over Ryle. Cooper is starting to find their identity on offense but will have to replace a three year starter on the offensive line after he went down in the 2nd qtr vs Ryle. Cooper defense played a fantastic game vs Ryle coming up with a big pick six and holding Ryle to 13 points. Campbell County seems to be putting up solid number on offense and I know they have an athletic QB that can run and throw. This will definitely be the weakest defense Cooper has seen so far this year, but that's no slight. Cooper's schedule to this point has been brutal. Good luck to both teams and hopefully both stay healthy thru this week.

And I love it for them. Great kids that work hard. Fun group to be around.

Unless Scott Co has changed what they do and how they align offensively from last season, they're not that hard to figure out. If you pay attention to details, you can predict what they're gonna do with solid accuracy.

Hillsboro runs the option and was able to beat WB by 2 TDs. I don't see a world where SK doesn't win this game handily.

Cooper could very well be 1-4 after their week 5 game. They have Highlands this week, then Ryle, then Campbell county, and then Dupont Manual. As talented as they are, they are playing a lot more guys both ways this year vs the last 2 and the second half is where Anderson made them pay.
