Scott County hosts their first district game of the season on Friday September 26th. They’ll be playing Collins.

The Cardinals come into this game 4-1. Last week they played their “meltdown” game as I like to call it. In that game vs Madison Central, they do what they usually do in their annual “meltdown” game. They fumbled multiple kickoffs, multiple snaps, got personal foul penalties and made mental errors they never usually do. Typically, they do this in November or in big district games so the fact this happened in a meaningless week 5 matchup is great.

Collins comes into this game 5-0 after a thumping of a struggling Meade County team. This is the best Collins teams in years who has big play ability similar to top teams in the state. They run an air raid type offense with an elite QB and great WR core.

Scott County is built to stop the pass as their two P4 players on that defense are currently both in the secondary.

In their last couple meetings both sides have had their explosive plays but Scott County comes away scoring 50+

This is a must win for both teams if they want to face leas of a gauntlet in November.

Who do you think wins?

No Goodin=No Winnin for Collins He was their entire offense against Scott County last year. I look for the Cardinals to bounce back with authority this week.

  • I’m a sucker for Scott Cos offense and know nothing about Collin’s. Go Cards.

I like the Cards here matchup wise.

48-28 Cardinals

Scott County needs to get to Goodin early and often. The kid is very good with his legs and if the stats tell a story, its that his receivers have done a good job of catching the balls that come their way. Goodin is completing 61% of his passes for 12 TDs to 1 INT. Leading receiver is #17 Delaney with 465 yards. Goodin is the leading rusher for Collins averaging over 9 yards a carry with 8 tds.

Goodin has great genes.

With Goodin, I liked their chances. Without Goodin, Scott County by a couple scores.

FYI, Jerry Lucas, the only football coach Collins has ever had has strong NKy ties.  His father Roy Lucas, Sr. and brother Roy Lucas, Jr were/are well known and highly successful football coaches at multiple high schools in Kenton and Campbell counties.  Pigskin genetics for sure.

What's the word on Goodin? Injured? Return to play?

Word on the street is he's playing.

IF... Goodin is in good health I would not be shocked if the Titans could pull this one out. I am rolling with the Former "King of the 859" and the breakfast club! Cardinals win in a close one.

Scott County and Collins both go 3 and out in their first drives…Haven’t seen Scott County star Jermaine Harmon yet…not a good development.
