You raise a good point. Should you have to be a Kentucky resident to win the award? I think the argument could be made that you do. I also think you could argue it the other way also.

Curious- How’d you pick for the other regions. What criteria?

It’s seems hard to believe but- as mentioned above- south shot 55% against OC from 3 and LOST! That doesn’t happen often especially when your entire program is built around that one element of the game. OC vs North- foul trouble hurt north big time, but OC is also a lot bigger stronger and more competitive/tenacious than south so I would expect OC to play north closer than south would. I am actually impressed south has done as “well” as they have this year all things considered.

It’s not hard to believe the outcome of the game. It’s hard to believe the gap between the two programs. It hasn’t happened by chance….

Absolute blowout. Hard to believe the disparity in size, strength and athleticism between these two teams.

Coach has done an A+ job this year. Brutal schedule and the team just keeps competing. Gets the most out of he is personnel and adapts his style to the players skill set. Very refreshing to see…

Great crossings happened. Simple as that. Hicks retired for a reason…. having 10 sophomores may be the plan to turn things around…

Yes it is your opinion but let’s be honest- there isn’t another human being who knows basketball that would take Dynes with the 3rd pick in the 8th region draft. They have lost to a number of teams with no bigs- why isn’t he dominating?And just because they play slow doesn’t mean they are great defensively. I’d like to know their points given up per possession. Points per game is irrelevant. Uptempo teams always give go more PPG- because the other team has the ball a lot. Points allowed per possession is what matters.

I had actually heard rumblings in the past about Ballard moving to 29th. Makes geographical sense and balances the 7th and 8th regions as well. But the easy fix is Collins. Balances two district from a competitive stand point and there really isn’t a huge Shelby-Collins rivalry since Shelby will be in the basketball wilderness forever…

And then the coaches of some of these teams, where the school has 1200 kids and 10-12 gimmees a year are praised for winning 60% of their games. ???

Potential- favors jasper. HS game today favors Moore’- his combo of physicality and versatility almost unrivaled state wide, nonetheless less region wide.

Agree they are dangerous. As far as best player in the region- if there was a draft across the entire region, whoever had first pick would be committing basketball malpractice taking anyone other than Tegan Moore…

Agreed- Woodford sticks out. SOS is the only thing they have to get them that high. The others actually look pretty darn sensible to me or at least very reasonable.

The first two are easy. Again super subjective but for me, I would struggle to put Owen and Spencer ahead of grant- unless the ONLY two basis are head to head - although they spit with Owen and region games only. Grant has more really good wins, more good wins, zero bad losses. Spencer best win is grant- who can’t really be that great of a win? Outside grant they have one win against a team with a winning record all year - 10-9 Oldham and they won by 2. Owen- beat walton and grant- that’s it. SK does have a couple nice wins- but a few head scratching losses. Again, not right or wrong answer just interesting. The SK love on this board is real. I just don’t see it but I could be wrong…

Just those 4 teams. Grant. SK. Owen. Spencer. For me, I’d take into account head to head. Good wins, good losses, bad wins, bad losses- which basically takes into account strength of schedule and margins. Obviously very subjective.

All reasonable. Curious as to who you think has the strongest to weakest resume so far this year- Grant, Owen, Spencer and SK. Clearly North and Collins 1 and 2. Not taking perceived post season potential into account, but based purely on performance this year.

Grant is a very polarizing team for some reason. They had a couple really nice wins going in to tonight, crushed Conner and edged Lex Christian. Beat Anderson- who beat Collins. Now beat Owen. Absolutely destroyed South and OC. Lost to 1 excellent team and 3 good/solid teams. They don’t have a bad loss- meaning a loss to a bad team. And yet for some reason expectations are really low for them on this board.

Lex Christian win looking better now as well…

Huge letdown game for OC after tough back to back games Friday and Saturday. Another tough game Wednesday coming up!

Grant with a huge win. Different team at home.

Frederick Douglas, McCracken and PRP are really benefiting from relatively lighter schedules. PRPs does get a lot tougher down the stretch…

Excellent recap. You seem to put a lot of weighting for this years rankings, based on past years results. Don’t t think that is a bad thing- just interesting. One addition- both western and desales have good wins and tough losses against out of state schools not mentioned above. For example, Desales beat Huntington prep. Probably their best win….

I just don’t think they can keep teams under 60 three straight games in regions. So I guess pad agree with your rankings as far as performance this season but I’d drop them if the ranking was chances to win the tourney.
