Didn’t they fire a previous coach one season in who went like 30-2? 4-5 years back?

That makes sense but it’s not that simple in this case. Cal, Highlands, desales, Owen scored 60s and above. Mason, Grant, North scored 40s, Collins 55. Which group of 4 is superior? I suspect those four that scored more shot threes and/or pushed tempo not allowing zone to set up. Either way, a coach would be crazy not say, hmmmm, something tells me we have a better chance to win a high scoring game…if I’m Oldham I push like mad, tire their big, look to score before zone sets up- I’d even risk a few more turnovers to play fast because OC most likely will not win a low scoring game.

If you look at region post creation of three Oldhams, and giving them a couple to establish success pretty even between OC, South and Collins. Collins has grown a bunch but had success when on the small end.

I don’t think history makes it questionable. I think it’s questionable because Simon Kenton beat OC in a tight game and OC played awful. And Simon Kenton is 1-9 when they give up 55 points. 1-9 is more than just a number. It shows a clear path to victory to strategize around. I think game is close to a toss up- edge to SK though.

Which poster has been pumping Oldham this year? Perception is a funny thing. I’ve seen mostly grant pumping (me included) lots and lots of SK stuff and one post after another about their big. I haven’t seen one person crowing about Oldham and how great they are or will be.. Early in season when struggling some comments about new coach, new system give them a chance. Max is the highest potential college recruit in the region since….actually not sure? And I’m not sure if he gets more accolades or criticism? But certainly Moore, Hammonds and Dallas get way more positive pub. “All I HEARD all year is Green and Amburgey for Oldham County” really means “all I HATE all year is green and Amburgey for Oldham County”. And the hate is real….yikes.

If one’s a winner and the other is runner up…let’s just be real. Trinity is usually a 1 and St X a 2.

Great job as always. Is this chance to win the tourney or season rankings? Regarding Mcrear- you say torn acl. He played in august. Are you sure it was a torn acl- that’s a very quick recovery and a lot of risk for a D1 athlete to take if he really tore his acl 6 months ago….

Not sure what you mean “all you heard”. I actually thought the P in BGP stood for Pioneer. No teams win per post ratio is less. Lots of threads on north, south, Collins. But when people are analyzing the OC GAME- they might mention max and Luke- weird? Like Owen County threads might mention- Tegan Moore. Now, as far as this season-OC lost a ton, and played a relatively tough schedule. Very inexperienced team and a new head coach. Knowing role has been a challenge and if not for South, (pick your year) would probably be the worst defensive team the county has ever produced.

Totally agree with the premise- except it’s not green getting his teammates “involved”. It’s greens teammates showing up and playing and competing like a bunch of dogs and not a group of leftovers. They need to compete. He distributed a ton the first three quarters and the team shot a blank…

Make dynes play 90 feet. I’d like to se him try to catch up to Luke. If marcum or anyone rebounds for OC I’d have Luke sprinting down the court. Most athletic kid on the court either team.

I disagree. But I absolutely hate the way they play, and I am puzzled by their perpetual mediocrity despite being the biggest school in the region so I’m predicting both from brain and heart.

Loaded bottom half. Most likely outcome would be an evangel butler final and Evangel would have a huge size advantage. But I’d say any of 4 teams could potentially win it. Evangel red hot and has athleticism and size and experienced coach. PRP been super consistent and solid all year. Butler- crazy athletic, competes and well coached. Desales hardest to predict- have some nice pieces and have played a very hard schedule- have had some really nice wins but super inconsistent.

Could be anything. On paper, based on the seeds and the rule you can play your own district I don’t see how the draw could have produced more competitive matchups- again, on paper. Gallatin is gonna be an outlier regardless of who they were set to play. I’d say this draw in totality of having to win three games was worst case for North, Grant and Woodford and best case for OC, SK and Collins. Collins clearly this years lucky “loser” as district runner up with OC a close second.

I do not understand the above. Could you elaborate on the some teams draw Saturday and some draw Sunday?

The can’t play Owen. Oldham is the other option.

No doubt. Oldham caught a huge break if you just look at their +/- vs the one seeds and compare it to the two seeds they played this season.

Never has a team won more by losing. OC now will either play Gallatin, SK or Woodford. North gets Grant, Collins or Owen. Unreal.

North had a losing record two years when they lost to OC in finals. The region was not good and the regional tourney was a joke to be honest. Spencer had a very good team that year. I don’t think Spencer would dominate this district, I just think if you look back 4-5 years and see their performance you’ll see that that Spencer would have done just as well in the Oldham district. Spencer’s district is deeper than the Oldham district and deeper makes it harder IMO.

Not sure I agree with that- obviously subjective. This year they beat South and Oldham so they would have had a chance. Last year- doubtful as north and OC were good. Year before that very possible- they were good and south and north weren’t. Year before that also very possible. Hard to predict what never happened but I’d say they definitely wouldn’t have fared worse but good chance at least one of those years they would have advanced out of the Oldham district.

Very hard game to predict because WV is so unpredictable and so dependent on one facet- shooting. They shoot well they win. They don’t it could be a blowout. I think grant is the better team and a real threat to win region but I’m super nervous for them tonight. First round can be the hardest to play loose. Walton won a very low scoring game last time- surprising. My gut tells me they play free and easy and shoot well tonight and pull off the upset.

The 29th has been a three team district for ever for all practical purposes and I can’t think of a year in recent history when all the Oldhams were good. It’s been pretty much OC and one other for a long time- now it’s north and OC. A few years back it was south and OC. 30th is undeniably deeper by a wide margin.

I saw that too. North has the stats from the game and Collins doesn’t from that or a few others. Not a fan of that at all…
