I had referenced South Oldham earlier as a possible landing spot- totally hypothetical since it’s not even open. Another school I suspect he could do wonders at that maybe could use a change, ST X. He’d have the facilities and the athletes. That would be fun to see. It’s not hard to tell who the top coaches really are if you just watch the kids play and execute- even if the team isn’t good, you can still tell.

I don’t think there is any bias in your comments. We’ve had this running convo all year- ranking based on performance vs potential- whether team or person. Whose swing is better Rory or rahm? Rory. Who’s the better golfer today. Rahm. Same thing. Johnson is Rory and Moore is rahm- as far as this season goes. IMO.

Lots packed in there. Some I agree with, future prospects stuff, some I don’t- like this year. outside of pure subjectivity and smoothness etc, there is no basis for saying this year Johnson is better than Moore- unless you do what you did- separate better player discussion- totally based on opinion, from more impact which is way less subjective. Impact and better player tend to go hand and hand. I’d take the one with more impact personally. Basically, Johnson is more visually appealing, therefore he is better. as for schedule- Johnson missed some of the toughest games- so his stats would probably be worse had he not missed. If you look at the games actually Johnson played, schedule gap closed. Owen did play Collins, grant twice, Cooper, Simon Kenton, Spencer County north Laurel, and evangel. Many easy games as well but harder than many big schools, like South.

Like most every one else, I could see either team winning. I only see one way SK wins, a low scoring, slow game. I could also see OC winning that way- but less likely. 60s and above, OC is very likely to win. Wish I had a better read on Amburgey health. Since I don’t I am passing on a pick except to reiterate the above: game in 40s-55 SK wins. Game in 60s OC wins.

Agreed on all counts. Top 20 ranking- lots of social media momentum. It’s a real thing and has huge impact. Doesn’t mean he’s not excellent. Jasper- love his game. He is very smooth. Great floater. Awesome rotation on jumper. Length and athleticism. That being said- being the best player on the court every game, as implied, and being 500 on season when there are some other nice experiences parts, means overall, he had an average high school year based on his talent. Yes- coach is not good. But Jasper barely met expectations this season- no way he exceeded them.

Just as good is a far cry from “outshine”. And the missing kid might have made no difference at all- or might have helped. Taking the liberty to edit 4 quarters “outcome would be same” comment, it would read something like this. “I think outcome might have been the same, but to be fair nothing I predicted on day one happened, so you never know!”

Previous recent predictions: Woodford game ugly early- wrong Johnson outshine Moore- wrong North big time over Grant- wrong But somehow you are super confident that a contributor who missed a game that was a 2 points spread with 2:00 to to go would have made no difference in a game in doubt throughout.

Last year I thought Oldham should have gone after Utter. Not a swipe at their current coach, just super impressed with him. If the south job comes open south should really try to get him. Have no clue if he’d be open to it but he gets his kids to play so hard, compete and execute. I think he’d do big things with a school that offers a little more athleticism…

Open Job: Montgomery County

What a horrible thing to say about Montgomery County!😂😂 -
All very true. Aau basketball and baseball do conflict big time. I think by combo of luck and system OC has had a long stretch of key basketball contributors playing baseball- oak, bates, mcclartys, Teague, Amburgey, - I’m sure I am missing others. outside of oak, most of these guys relied on being super physical, aggressive kids who attacked the rim primarily and that didn’t require as much year round focus since OC played a style that emphasized aggression and physicality more than skill…not saying all those guys weren’t skilled. If you are a skill based program, kids near to play year round.
