Don’t know his history. I know last year they went 28-6 playing a brutal schedule, won a loaded Region and then lost a super tight game to a really good Warren Central team. Not sure they needed a “turn aroind”but maybe Edelen has helped this year. Not sure. This year they have played another brutal schedule and continuously improved. Like his demeanor and how free his kids play.

I’ve said a number of times on here what a great job Haworth has done. Amazing! Coaches like Haworth, game plan on how to maximize their talent in order to win- while coaches like Szabo game plan around how to create a system where your players won’t lose the game. Been very telling the back half of this year…

Saw max green got his 1000th point. Nice accomplishment.

Been on the grant train all year- based on last year when I was impressed with how physical and tough they play. They do need to figure out how to up their level away from home. They have played a very good schedule which should help them get ready for postseason

What does “next level” and “future” mean. EVERY 7 footer who plays basketball at a school like SK 100% is playing at the “next level” if they want to. Are you saying he won’t get next level looks or won’t produce at next level?

Oldham isn’t good defensively but they are good at speeding up other teams in a weird way because they give up a lot of good looks. Some games that hurts them. This game I think it helps and OC gets the win.

Gaither. Team plays super sound on both ends. Seems to have created a team dynamic where winning is the priority for all the kids regardless of role. Hard to do! I do think his teams have played tight in the past in the region tourney and at times he’s over coached and cost his team a few games. Curious to see if he’s evolved…

How so? Seems like each region has had wins against the other this year? 9th probably deeper in total. The top two of each region similar. Middle of 8th competitive with middle of 9th.

Some of the teams they “held” under 55 are also really really bad teams that might struggle to score 55 in a 6 quarter game. Full disclosure, I’ve seen them play and just not a believer at all. but they could prove me wrong! Went back and looked- the regional winners last 5 years all averaged in 60s in Henry over 3 games and in the championship game the winner scored 60 or more every single time. Some earlier round games were lower scoring- almost always involving Collins. But if you can’t score in the 60s, history says you aren’t winning the region.

1-7 when giving up 55+ points. Not a recipe for success.

The three presumed top challengers to North and Collins, heading in to this week, all go down in flames tonight. Yikes…

I envision a very very close game. Down to the wire. I think OC pulls it out. Has Collins ever won at OC? Based on the above it looks like they’ve only won 1 regular season matchup with OC.

Based on performance this year in total, not who’s hot the last moth and not potential I’d go: tier 1 easy- North. Collins. tier 2 challenging- SK, Spencer, Grant, owen. Case for any order could be made. tier 3 easy- Oldham, Woodford, Walton Verona. order pretty easy potential to win region/who’s playing best recently: North Collins, OC, Woodford Spencer, Grant, Owen, SK- I just can't see them scoring enough to win 3 straight games in region and they don’t have a take over guy- everyone else on the list does… No one else has a chance IMO… Typed quickly so I’m sure some glaring omissions!

Oddly enough I’ve never stepped foot in grant county, struggle to even remember which direction it’s located and barely know which teams make up their district…

I’m just joking around. But you do have a double standard with Grant. Probably not intentional but you do. Grant beats Owen- but!- Moore played, but not whole game so doesn’t count! Sk beats North- without Dallas, a great win for SK over a top 5 team! Grant beats Oldham by 30- but!- it was early in year. Owen beats grant early in year- head to head matters a bunch! Grant loses tight game to Spencer- bad loss. Oldham lost tight game to Spencer- good close loss against a top team ! Grant beats Lex Christian and Oldham losses to them by 25- and grant beats Conner, but out region games don’t factor in- unless you beat seneca and then it’s a good out of region win! Take away Simon Kenton’s win against north and you have a very vanilla resume. Lost to a bad CAL team. Got beat pretty badly by an average highlands team. Lost to Conner. Scored 32 in a win vs Cooper. Good win vs Ashland. What’s so magical about them- oh I know, they beat grant- and head to head matters a bunch! For whatever reason Grant gets a microscope no other team gets in the rankings. Again- it’s obvious the rankings are just predictions- nothing wrong with that at all. But let’s just call them that.

Grant beat them by more than SK or Walton Verona did. Therefore they will probably drop a few more spots in the regional rankings…??

I’d have to agree. There is no actual possible justification for Oldham being ahead of grant. That doesn’t mean I think grant has a better chance to win the region, but pure resume a huge insult to grant.

Grant. Any rankings all inclusive of won-loss, SOS, common opponents, head to head, margins etc would surely have to have them above Woodford and Oldham. I don’t argue that maybe Oldham and Woodford have a better chance to make and win the region. But there is absolutely no way they can be ranked ahead of grant based on what’s happened this season to date.
