Scott County - What happened?

Featured Replies

Can anyone help me? What has happened at Scott Co. I know after Coach Hicks retired, they named Coach Glenn. He did have a winning season his 1st season (covid season, they did win the region, but didn’t compete we all know why)

After that he has has records

2021 8-11

2022 10-18

2023 8-15

My question is? Is this program just really Billy Hicks? And the further away you get away the less his fingerprints are on this.
I know the next argument is the Great Crossing argument. But if you look at your roster they have Zero Seniors. One junior, and 10 sophomores.

I am not advocating for a mans job. But I do think folks need to look at the facts.
I am a outside observer. Just a fan of great basketball. But it’s not at Scott County.

Great crossings happened. Simple as that. Hicks retired for a reason….

having 10 sophomores may be the plan to turn things around…

Great crossing is the younger team.

I don't think it's any more complicated than a new school opened and the talent base for the school was eroded.  And often when this happens, it seems it's not as simple as half of the county now goes to a new school so you're losing half of what you might have had - rather, kids who are still districted to the old school want to be part of the new, so in the end you lose even more than what's expected.  See Shelby County when Collins opened, North Hardin when John Hardin opened.  I'm sure there are a bunch of others.  Oldham County seems to have for the most part avoided this scenario, but I think that's because the new schools opened (South Oldham in '89, North Oldham in 2003) during a period of intense growth in the county, so the talent drain was offset by new folks moving in........

Younger and more talented.  Their roster is loaded...When Billy Hicks coached (with 1 Mega HS), all these kids would be playing over the kids Scott Co. have playing for them.  So, to me it is as simple as the new school opening.

Case and point Michael Moreno was a stud for Scott Co. and now his little brother (who is bigger than him) is a stud for Great Crossing.  Now, maybe you could make the argument a new coach could steal some kids back.  Not sure how their districting of kids work, but Coach Page was in the Scott Co. system for a long time at the middle school.

I wonder how the building of the new Scott Co Hs will affect them.
From what I heard the middle schools feed like this.

Scott Co Middle to Great Crossing

Royal Springs to Scott Co Hs

Georgetown Middle is decided by location that you live.

Scott county was one of the bigger schools the state before Great crossing.    Less pool of players to pull from when you divide county in half.
