  1. I was referring to last year’s 8th grade teams, the current freshmen. Yes, both 7th grade teams lost to CovCath’s single 35 player team. Agreed we won’t know about that class for another year. As Highlands is again splitting the class to maximize playing time. And they will be in the Medium School Division. CovCath is playing in the Small School Division, according to the NKMSAA website. That’s a bit of a head scratcher.
  2. CBS Sports highlight from 8th grade… https://www.instagram.com/p/B1U85IRhIAj/
  3. No telling until they get out there, but both Highlands 8th grade teams made the playoffs in their division of the NKMSAA last year. One of the two won it. I believe they were the only split squad school at the 8th grade level. Combined, no one would have given them a game.
  4. 25 people under the age of 18 have died from covid in the state of Kentucky. 19 of them were already terminally ill or had a serious comorbidity. 80% of all covid deaths in the US have been people over 65. 95% of all covid deaths in the US have been people over 50. Vaccinated people are still getting infected and carry the same amount of spreadable virus in their nostrils as an unvaccinated person. We have to let these kids play, or we’re going to have 3rd year seniors in ‘22.
  5. Is this a recent development? I’m curious because Bellevue and Dayton’s youth teams recently merged. Did they merge because of numbers or to be more competitive? If it was because of numbers, then the writing is on the wall for both high school programs. If it was to be more competitive, then they cut the amount of available youth positions in half, and that may trickle up to the high school level.
  6. I’m not speaking on his behalf or speculating, it appears you are. I’m just stating the facts. His mother said online that he will be at EKU in January. My point is that his reasons for returning have been accomplished, and I see no reason to play another season. It certainly has nothing to do with Covid or missing out on something last season. Maybe, just maybe, let’s consider all of these kids who will now sit behind a returning senior, or will play in a playoff or championship game against a school who allowed kids to return. In this case, a kid who has already graduated, has committed to a college, and will leave BW after the championship game. If everyone is okay with that, so be it. Just seems hypocritical to me. Let’s not pretend we care about the kids, their high school experience, or the opportunities we apparently feel they’re entitled to. This is about winning games.
  7. To call this a head scratching saga is an understatement. He said he wanted to come back to play a non-covid season and go to camps to get more exposure and a better offer. Then a month later gets that offer, commits, and declares he still going to play a second senior season, and leave for college when the season ends. There is zero reason he or anyone else who has committed should be playing another season of high school ball if they were seniors last year.
  8. Did they play or not? I think they had their opportunities. Nearly everyone has suffered to some degree over the past 14 months. Some suffered the ultimate price. Many lost jobs. Why do we have to coddle these kids who actually got their season in. Did they get as much exposure as they would like, probably not. Did they suffer more than everyone else? Probably not. Suck it up, life is hard. Better to learn that now, and use it as motivation.
  9. Yet he still had multiple D-1 offers. FCS, but full rides. Right?
  10. My guess would be 1. It’s Highlands Football and they are the revenue generator. 2. They have way more kids to oversee. That o-line coach is responsible for the same number of players as the basketball coach, and doesn’t have 3 assistants. That’s my 2 cents.
  11. I don’t care what the insurance liability is, or how much it costs. Gotta have more cannon!
  12. Question for any parents of current players. I know you’re on here. What’s the situation with winter weights, 60 minutes, etc? Are they working out or not. What timeline that has been provided? Aren’t the middle schoolers typically hitting the weights by now?
  13. Easy sweeper. Yeah, I’d love to assume every player has the ability to workout on their own, but that’s not always the case. They need access to facilities. Am I Mr. Big? Thanks.
  14. I don’t really care about who may or may not be an assistant. Let’s nail down an HC, build from there and get these kids into the field house that the football program built, so they can start working out.
  15. Just give Wolfe the vacant superintendent position and pay him the HC, AD and Principal salaries.
  16. Is there any sort of new timeline, like when the AD said there would be a hire by xmas? Is this even a priority anymore? Let’s go.
  17. Thought Beyhem. Behymer went to Newport. I believe another came with him.
