Meh. Maybe. But we all know about he elephant in the room with Beechwood. I think it will be a situation for some time, as they have reclassification kids all the way down through grade school. Saw their 7th grade team play highlands over the weekend and they fed the ball to their reclassified running back all game long. He was the tallest kid on the field. It is what it is, but there will always be an asterisk in a lot of people’s minds. highlands won.

Seems like with all the cancellations, if indeed there is a 10 game cutoff, a late season matchup or two to settle things could be doable. Or is there a hard line on when the season ends as well?

Why isn’t there. I seem to remember a playoff in the past.

Pretty sure they were or are hurt. I dont know for certain but I believe they were down to their 5th or 6th back vs Dixie or Conner. Something crazy like that. Others would know more on the subject. I just would have liked to see Devon play vs Beechwood as a fan. Would have been a much better game.

I’m sure Highlands would love another crack at them. Especially with their RB and MLB who was called up to varsity that week due to injuries.

Whoops. I did not. Good. Maybe it’s still a little more open than I had previously thought. Highlands v Ryle and Campbell v Beechwood make things a little more interesting. Still wish highlands and Campbell could make up their game.

Thank you for putting this together btw. Am I correct that Beechwood plays Campbell County October 28th? One of their schedules says “open”. That should be a fitting end, those two appear to be the class of frosh ball this year. Would have liked to have seen Highlands reschedule Campbell and have more of a say in it, but had their shot vs Beechwood and dropped the ball.

I’m sure some folks got a little over the skis after the Bowling Green win. As should be expected. No one thought they were going to win that game. I think most honest fans, especially of Highlands, knew this wasn’t going to be a team that made a run at state. I think most expected an improvement over last year, but also that the staff was going to need a year to really develop kids, and their bodies. This off-season will really show the difference, and whether the new focus on packing pounds and muscle on to these kids bears fruit. It wasn’t going to happen as soon as coach Sphire walked through the door. And to be fair, as most in the know have already stated at one point or another, this is not a senior laden team, and the bulk of the talent lies with the underclassmen. Maybe even more so at the freshman level. Their day will come.

Starting 7 kids both ways doesn’t sound like a very good way to develop, or retain kids. Or keep them healthy…

It is unfortunate. Would have loved to see them at full strength. I don’t really know who’s hurt and all that but it could have been really ugly if Highlands didn’t turn it over 3x in the first half. May have even been 4.

Any word on the young man? Looked like he left at half.

Highlands scored first. It was 12-6 tigers with about 3 minutes to go in the half and highlands botched a punt from their end zone giving beechwood the ball on their 2 to set up TD making it 20-6. Highlands had a chance before half to get back into it and thew a pick in the beechwood end zone from the 10. I believe beechwood won the turnover battle 2-0

That smallest kid on the field at middle linebacker is a good one. Varsity letterman in wrestling as an 8th grader.

The NKMSAA 7th grade division is all over the place. They need tiers and stricter rules.

Aside from the pick 6, it all boils down to stopping the McNick tailback. He’s the story.

Half. Game is much closer than the 27-14 score. Pick 6 was a big momentum swing. Highlands was inside the McNick 30 and driving down 7. Birds ball at half.

Noons back. The pick 6 came with 34 seconds left in the half.

It’s giving me a headache. Brutal.

Which middle schools feed each of the 4 Boone co high schools. I ask because the NKMSAA requires players to attend the middle school they play for, except for CovCath and NewCath, but that’s a whole other can of worms. And the Boone Co schools don’t play in the NKMSAA. I’m assuming this is the reason?

They beat one of the two 8th grade highlands teams. Don’t get too excited.

I realize there is no Ryle middle school, but why is the 8th grade team “Union”? Isn’t there a middle school on the same campus? Is this not a school team?
