Highlands scored first. It was 12-6 tigers with about 3 minutes to go in the half and highlands botched a punt from their end zone giving beechwood the ball on their 2 to set up TD making it 20-6. Highlands had a chance before half to get back into it and thew a pick in the beechwood end zone from the 10. I believe beechwood won the turnover battle 2-0

Once Beechwood got rolling in the second quarter, they were in the lead and in charge. They ran it right at Highlands opening drive of second half and took the lead out to 26-6. Next Highlands drive they went 3 and out and that made it clear this game was over.

Beechwood is loaded across the board. RB/S Luke Erdman is a stud. QB Clay Hayden is fantastic throwing the ball. RB Chase Flaherty gives BW a double barrel attack in the backfield. WR/CB James Cusick made plays all night on both sides of the ball.

Clear and convincing win by Beechwood.

I’ll be very surprised if anyone even plays the Beechwood freshman close this year. As you said they are loaded this year, very impressive.

That’s good to hear. It sounds like the pipeline is loaded the up in coming years.

I have heard the middle school team is very good as well.

I could be mistaken, but I think one of the Cov Cath middle school teams beat Beechwood 14-6 this week.

Yeah I heard that as well but a lot of teams lose to the Colonels.

HHS had a great opening drive with a nice mix of downhill running game and stretching the field horizontally with sweep motion plays. Capped off with a TD run by Surrey on a sweep. He is going to be a good one, folks!

After the opening drive it seemed like the play calling essentially turned into a competition to see how many fades they could throw. With an offense like the Beechwood freshman have, HHS needed to sustain some drives to give themselves a chance; the play calling did not allow that to happen.

Beechwood is solid all the way around. Never get too high, never get too low. Clearly, very well coached. I was really impressed with 6 (sorry I don't know names) for Beechwood. Quick feet, runs behind his pads, great blocker, and gets vertical right away.

As many have stated on here already, I don't see anyone coming close to touching Beechwood this year.

Let's hope the extracurriculars by HHS were addressed by coaches ASAP. Be better than that, guys!

#6 for Beechwood is Chase Flaherty

On the play calling, once Highlands got behind and was having less success running the ball, they struggled in the passing game. Perhaps they could have kept forcing the running game but their biggest play of the game was a nice catch and run by #10 in the 4th quarter that led to their second TD.
