I will add this, in his freshman season, Beechwood came to play us at War Memorial for the semi-finals which can be overwhelming for a young player, but not for Tyler. He was impressive. Beechwood had a lot of good players on that team, but I came away from that game believing that he was a special player.

ZB is correct, it was just confirmed to me this morning. It was told to me that they are pursuing someone to be the next head coach, but no agreement has yet been reached. Stay tuned.

That’s the problem. We are not sure yet if some players are returning. I have heard from more than one very reliable source that two of our players have left (or are going to leave). So, we will have to update this thread as we find out.

You are 100% correct.

The Cardinals graduate 14 seniors from a talented squad that was good enough to contend for another state championship. But, instead, were knocked out by the eventual state champions in the third round. While this may be celebrated at some places, it is not viewed as successful in Mayfield. This has led to some movement by some experienced players out of the program. Not sure what the issue is, but the Big Red needs to figure it out. Coming back for 2026 is another group of talented athletes. Gray Robbins will be back for his senior year as quarterback. This is a big plus for the Cardinals as Gray was consistently good and only threw one interception the entire season. Josiah England will be back as the lead ball carrier, and hopefully he can stay healthy because he is a dangerous weapon for the Cardinal offense. The question will again be the offensive line. If Mayfield can put together an effective offensive line, they have the skill players to contend for another title.

LCA racked up 145 yards in penalties when we played them 2 weeks ago. I said then that they had better play alot cleaner or it may cost them.

We found the AD and all the support staff at LCA that we dealt with to be excellent in every way. It is something that definitely needs to be attended to, but its too easy to question someone’s character on a message board. Ok, I’m taking down my soapbox. ?

We just figured that they have no place for the opposing team to gather.

Our guys sat on those same bleachers in a constant rain last week during halftime.

Not going to be able to get to Owensboro tonight to see this game because of sickness. But I am expecting the Tigers to win this one, and I will be pulling for them to do so.

Playoff dejavu. If this seems familiar, it is. Mayfield and LCA meeting for the fourth consecutive season in the third round of the class 2A plaoffs has nearly become a tradition. So far, the first three have all been played at Mayfield. Not this time. The Cardinals will be doing the traveling this year and LCA will get to play at home. Will it matter? We shall see. One thing is for sure, the game is usually worth the watch, that is, with the exception of last year (if you are a a cardinal fan). I have not heard an injury report for LCA, but Mayfield lost the services of Diego Torres for the rest of the season, and yes, that hurts. Can the Cards overcome that and get the victory on LCA’s home field? Does LCA backup last year’s victory with another big win? Tell us what you think.

I hate to say it, but this was true in last night’s game. Oweh and Lowe showed no “dawg” in them when the game was on the line. The Louisville guards did.
