I think overall, the rankings look good. You have #1, then I think 2-6 are actually who will battle it out to see who loses to Trinity at Kroger Field in December. No offense to #7 on down, but those are simply for bragging rights to say your team is ranked 🤷‍♂️

I'm not a Trinity fan, but I will pull for any KY team that plays an out of state team. I think Trinity competes well in this one. It'll be close, but I'll take the Rocks by a field goal.

Didn't Trinity also return almost their entire offense from last year as well?

They have to beat St X for the district title. If they don’t, I believe they’ll get Trinity in round 2 of the playoffs.

If CAL shows up & plays their game, this one won’t be close. However, if they let Pikeville hang around & Pikeville gets a couple of calls go their way, this one could be interesting. Pikeville will be improved this year & a real contender for the 1A title, but I’ll take the Centurions by 4 TDS in this one.

This is a good result for St X. I still believe they’ll have some growing pains early in the season, but if their defense can put forth this kind of effort consistently, that’ll be huge for them while their offense grows early on.

Pretty sure the west in 6A this year is districts 1, 2, 3 & 5 meaning Trinity is in the west. If SW can avoid Trinity in the 3rd & 4th rounds, they have a shot to get back to Lexington.

Scrimmage was supposed to be varsity on the 3rd quarter, but ended up being all JV in the 2nd half with CAL taking that part 14-3. Franklin County has some talent but you can tell it’s young talent with a lot of growing to do. Still very concerning that they only had 43-44 players tonight, but I have to think that maybe they didn’t bring their freshmen? If they did bring them, those numbers are concerning for a 4A school. On to Pikeville next week for CAL. I’m excited to attend my first game in Pikeville, but I know it will be a tough environment & stiff road test for CAL.

42-0 CAL at halftime. CAL called off the dogs in the 2nd quarter & still won it 14-0.

35-0 CAL with 5:10 left in the 2nd quarter.

CAL goes 4 plays & 65 yards. 28-0 CAL with 0:56 left in 1st quarter.

No broadcast tonight. They will broadcast on Sportscaster again this season. We will have audio only for away games (I believe) & complete broadcasts for all home games. Basically, Pikeville will be audio only and Owensboro will be a complete broadcast to start the season. If that changes, I will post in each CAL game thread.

I don't know if Owensboro has ever beaten St. X, but I believe they will this year. It should be a great week 1 matchup.

I don't believe there will be a Sportscaster broadcast, but not sure about Hudl.

The Flyers head to English Station Rd on Friday night to take on the Centurions for the final tune-up before results matter. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. The scrimmage format is 3 quarters of live Varsity scrimmage with non-live special teams. The 4th quarter is a live JV scrimmage with non-live special teams. CAL is coming off of a decent 1st scrimmage against Manual. Definitely some things to work on and tighten up, but that's what these scrimmages are designed for so for CAL, the 1st scrimmage served as intended.
