  1. 98 Highlands D was pretty crazy too. D Smith - Kentucky B Scott - Kentucky J Meloche- Kentucky B Grover - Perdue B Ulbricht- Cornell B Hamblen - Kentucky N Gibson- Kentucky/Georgetown
  2. Sleep my pretties, Sleep… Sleep on the birds….That’s it, rest your eyes… Sleep
  3. Dang hate to hear that. Thought someone said he could be back in the post season?
  4. So you’re telling me you haven’t seen film of the 98 Highlands team.
  5. I’m not sure about that. Talent is big don’t get me wrong. Sometimes a less talented team wins though…. At the high school level believing trumps everything. Go back and watch when Highlands beat Cincy St X and look at the match ups. One team believed all the way to their bones. One team played like the lives of their families depended on winning the game. That is from coaching.
  6. Yes. There was some real talent, but Dale had the mediocre talent kids thinking they were superheroes. In high school football confidence goes a long long way. Give me an average kid ready to run through a brick wall on fire over a talented kid that is meh any day.
  7. My rivalry was 89-2004 (in my opinion is the golden years of the rivalry). But since Highlands hasn’t changed since then, the throw back I’d want to see is 83-87. Colonel comet vs the H-wing. 69 is also an awesome helmet match up, don’t really like colonels in white helmets though.
  8. Yes it did seem like he was under way more pressure. I wonder if Highlands called off the pass rush when they got a significant lead.
  9. I think it should be a good game. Cov Cath has a significantly more impressive resume so far this year. But the Birds have looked like a well oiled machine past couple weeks. Againt Boone the Birds didn’t even play their A game. Multiple muffed punts, plenty of stalled drives…. And they still controlled every aspect of the game. Boone’s back up quarterback looked better than the starter, his wide receivers just couldn’t finish catches.
  10. Good point. In general I agree. Running up the the score purposely is a bad look. I am though apprehensive of getting the team conditioned to taking the foot off the gas mid 3rd quarter….
  11. Yeah, the other concern is if JV is successful and then you put in the freshman running back vs big varsity guys is that irresponsible? The little freshman gets a bad head injury now you’re really looking bad. It’s a harder line to walk than it appears.
  12. That’s reasonable. So let’s say first play the JV running back takes it to the house. Do you actually tell kids not to score? Or try to call unsuccessful plays? Or just put the slowest kid at running back? I just don’t like the psychological effects on kids of trying to perform worse.
  13. So at what point differential would you say you pull the starters and put the JV guys in?
  14. Are you saying these milestones of 60 and 70 points apply if the starters are out and JV guys drive up the score from the 50s?You can’t tell kids not to score if they get the opportunity to play. Dale used to get criticized for this after the starters took showers at half time and the JV team went on to score touchdowns. You can’t coach kids to take a dive for the other teams feelings. No room for participation trophies in varsity football.
  15. Pulling for coach Weinrich and Deaton in this one. Go Camels!
  16. Yes, in my head this game is always the Owen Hauck Bowl.
  17. The “Is Highlands back?” question is easy to answer... See -> Have they beaten Cov Cath?
  18. Was this a Benke to Noon show? Any recap would be appreciated.
  19. His wide receivers had some drops that would have really changed the game. Ifs and buts…. He will be a special QB. Probably the starter after Benke.
  20. Is the online viewing ticket $35? The varsity is $10, why would freshman be so much more?
