Past success at Highlands has nothing to do with anything obviously. FD is stacked with talent and should be favored to win. But…That FD coaching staff has a big fat zero when it it comes to deep playoff success. And they have a long history of having stacked teams. Is this the year FD gets it done? Probably but I’m not mailing them the trophy just yet. Cold damp weather is coming and high school aged brains just need one seed of doubt to go sideways. I guess what I meant about FD not having to face adversity this season is they’ve never been down in a game, or had to have a gut check and be mentally patient and tough to engineer a comeback. Their whole season has been peaches and cream. Sounds crazy but a team that has had to scratch and claw from being down 2 scores is more mentally tough.

Yeah but busses are always slower. Plus no idea where they will hit Friday commute traffic. No way it’s close to a normal car drive time.

So F Douglass’s past this season means nothing and will not win them a state championship? Haha. Never say never. It’s high school football. Just wait for some cold nasty weather or any number of things. I’ll believe Freddie D can finish a season when I see it.

Plus, Douglass is famously playoff choke artists. Douglass just had a statement revenge emotional win. I feel like Douglass is one pick six, one time being down when they’re not supposed to be, one mistake away from falling apart emotionally and getting in choke formation. They haven’t had to overcome anything and sometimes your team needs practice doing just that.

Beechwood vs. Newport Central Catholic Predictions/Updates
El Diablo replied to BWTigers's topic in KY Football (High School)
Ok that’s fine, I just don’t think a team that lost to 2022 Cov Cath at home is untouchable. It’s not like they lost to St Xavier by 7. Just saying they’re beatable for sure. -

Didn’t Pikeville lose significantly to Cov Cath? That in my mind is a big indicator of “touchable”. Cov Cath isn’t Cov Cath from 3-6 years ago. -

So weird, Highlands above SW…. I really hope they meet in the playoffs somehow. -
If there’s an adjustment to the playoffs with the rating system in the third round. #1Frederick Douglass would probably host #8Fairdale. #2 BG host #7SO…. Unless I have no idea how that works?

Overall Highlands looked good/great. Defensively you can’t ask for a better performance. Charlie Noon is the most dangerous weapon of the team for sure. I would like to see more intention of getting the ball in his hands. But, I try not to judge the coaching, they may be trying to not to use up all the Noon magic. Or maybe Coopers defense focused on Noon and opened something else up? They got a convincing win against a good team, really shouldn’t complain. Congrats to the team on the development over the season, very impressive improvement.

Birds held them out of the end zone a bunch. Cooper had flashes of big plays but just turned the ball over too much. Watch out for Cooper next couple years though. They have some sophomores that are big time playmakers.

I feel like the Highlands offense felt a little off or something? I didn’t see much Hosea, he deserves more touches. Every time they ran Benke up the middle it was good things. Highlands defense was on top of things. Dunn may have had 3 interceptions. Class took one to the house. Homecoming King Woods had a good day on the DLine.

Wow. Big win.

Kind of a weird game. Maybe 45 turnovers? Birds Defense looked tough. Cooper has a bright future, so much young talent on that team.

Is this game homecoming? Does that change the time for kickoff? -

Calpreps says 38-24... I think it will be closer than that. -

Originally I thought Highlands by 14, now I’m thinking by less than a TD. Cooper has some weapons. Should be a pretty even matchup. -
Any word on the player that was taken off the field via ambulance?

That is crazy. I can’t imagine how hyped up that would be. -

Ummm yeah I guess so? Hey, that guy was giving me some wise guy response to my wildcat idea and I responded to him with some wise guy stuff because he didn’t know what the word dynamic meant. I guess I was wrong. Shaun Alexander is more dynamic because he was an all time great at RB and went to the NFL and had a great career also at RB. -

Well I didn’t start the comparison. Guy used the word dynamic not knowing what the word meant. Shaun Alexander is an all time great and was better at high school football than Noon. Noon can play at QB, RB, or WR. Never saw Shaun Alexander attempt one pass. No shame to him he only played RB. Look up words before you use them.
