  1. It’s not a mandate. It’s a recommendation. And as stated above, in a normal “board drill,” players are no more than at max 1-2 feet apart from each other. That is what I mean by standing up to it. Sorry for the lack of clarity.
  2. Never count on Tackett & the KHSAA not sending an email out attacking football at any point and time. If Kentucky HS coaches do not start protecting football and having a true seat at the table this sport will be in deep, deep trouble in this state very soon.
  3. Looks like another solid tournament field. Pearl Cohn has around 5-6 group of 5 commits and Kirkwood has a TE going to Arkansas I believe.
  4. Or they could do something crazy since RPI only matters in football is to eliminate it and go back to the old system where East & West rotates hosting the semi-finals lol.
  5. I can only imagine the cluster that this will be come RPI team with realtime results.
  6. Great call on the Apollo/Murray game. Daviess & Logan I don’t think will be very competitive. Logan is very good this year & Daviess lost a ton off last years team. Never know though.
  7. Here in WKY I’d say: Mayfield at Graves McCracken at Paducah Cooper at Christian County
  8. Hoptowns best player graduated but they did return their qb, 2nd leading receiver, 3 OL starters, and 6 defensive starters. Also from what I was told Christian County best talent was in the younger classes. They only graduated 6 guys off their roster. So I think a 4-6 to 5-5 season is certainly attainable for year one but the schedule does them no favors. Excited to see how it plays out personally.
  9. As a multi time state champion, Guys like Coach Haddix need to be front & center in voicing their frustrations. It really is crazy what the KHSAA allows basketball to do in June with the limitations they place on football. Basketball can go on out of state, play games every single day, do camps on college campuses 5 months before they play. Football? You can lift weights & run everyday lol.
  10. Football is not the reason kids are stretched too thin. Check out some of these summer basketball schedules and practices. Heck you got kids not even enrolled in schools playing summer basketball for that school. Now tell me how that works? Then tell me anything football does in June or July resembles that. The thing that could solve a lot of these problems as well is run dead period from a Sunday-Sunday and not keep the same dates every year. Be flexible not rigid on things.
  11. Agreed 100%. Football doesn’t “get” July. It HAS to have July because football plays in August. Many football teams do not have all of their guys until July. To me it’s pretty obvious that the KHSAA wants to protect summer basketball and really do not care what feelings it hurts with the football coaches. Basketball NEVER stops. And guess what? In July AAU season picks back up again after a June pause. Something definitely needs to change. Things are way different than they were when this “agreement” was first reached.
  12. I can definitely get behind that. Without being allowed to scrimmage another team in the spring a lot of KHSAA schools, especially the small schools, would probably love to have June instead of spring. I even like taking it a step further and allowing EACH school to choose what they want. If you get spring practice then you don’t get June 7v7. If you get June 7v7 then you don’t get spring practice.
  13. This is a much talked about topic. Figured why not bring it on the forum and get more opinions. Right now in June, (late May), Basketball can play as many games as they want. Meanwhile, football can only lift and workout in June but nothing organized. (Every practice is organized but I digress) If you look to neighboring states Tennessee is full throttle on football in June. The KHSAA saying that the state “gives” football July is one of the biggest misconceptions out there. Football “has” to have July because the season starts in August. Couple that with the refusal to adjust dead period dates to a Sunday-Sunday format and this year in July teams really get around 7-8 days to acclimate and crunch 7v7 work in before they have to shift their focus to installing and getting real football reps in the preparation of the season. This is something that I believe truly holds Kentucky back from developing football more in the state. Football isn’t the reason kids don’t get time off. Basketball and baseball go year round basically yet football is the only one constantly under the microscope in KY. From my understanding the June rule hasn’t been revisited since before 2010. Look at all the new blood and coaching changes each program has had since then. It’s time to revisit June football restrictions in our state. June is the perfect month for heat acclimation with helmets and to install your base offense and defense (which most schools do anyways)
  14. From Louisville to Corbin? Definitely a change of pace for the family.
  15. What happened to Mercer County? A lot of talent & tradition in that area for football, hard to believe it all dried up.
  16. Goal should be a district championship which is entirely possible. You do that and you’ve got a shot to get to round 3 of the playoffs which would be a really good first season for them.
  17. 1000% not Joe Morris.
  18. Strong possibility of a very successful former western Kentucky coach taking the reins once again. Would be a no brainer for the Wildcats & the faithful would rejoice.
  19. Wasn’t sure I thought it was someone else who had been there awhile but cannot think of the name.
  20. Who is the defensive coordinator for WoFo?
  21. Looks like Coach Chris Ezell has taken an assistant coaching job at the new Christian County HS. Makes sense.
  22. Wade is not coming back to PT. He is graduating this spring or has already graduated I was told. His listing as a JR was for reclass purposes to attend a prep school I believe.
  23. From their last games I found: Hopkinsville returning starters: 5 Offense & 6 Defense. Christian County: 5 offense & 5 defense. Will be interesting to see it play out. Year 1 tough schedule will get them ready to be better in year 2.
  24. Looks like Cooper is traveling to Western Kentucky to play the new Christian County Tigers in week 1 this August.
