  1. You can listen to any Newport Wildcat game at Rupp on (859) Sports Radio. Could be interesting matchup if Newport wins a couple of games and gets a rematch with Trinity, which is Newport's last loss 76-71 before Santa came down the chimney. I keep thinking about 2019, our first week on the air when Walton-Verona picked us to be their radio and the Bearcats were upset by Campbell County who went on to almost pull out the upset over Trinity in the Semi's as the Camels missed a shot at the buzzer to win, Trinity went on to beat Scott County for the Sweet 16 championship.
  2. If you can't make the game listen live on (859) Sports Radio with Mark Wehry and Bert Richey!
  3. You can watch both semi final games on (859) Sports Radio with HHS and Ryle at 6:30 and Holy Cross and Cooper at 8:00.
  4. You can watch all of the action in the 33rd district tournament free on (859) Sports Radio starting Tuesday with #1 Cooper vs #4 Boone County. The 2nd semi final game will be #2 Ryle vs #3 Conner. This will be one of the best semi final games in the state. Cooper and Ryle are #2 and #10 in the entire state and have won 5 of the last 6 9th Region titles.
  5. You can watch all of the action in the 33rd district tournament free on (859) Sports Radio starting Monday with #5 Heritage Academy and #4 Conner. The winner of this game plays Wednesday at 6:00 PM against #1 Cooper and after that game, #3 Boone County plays #2 Ryle at 7:45. Don't forget Conner lost 3 district games by a total of 6 points and Ben Fay for Conner is back. Cooper, Boone ad Ryle are 3 of the top 6 in the 9th Region. Cooper has had their entire roster the last 2 games for the first time all season. This district is going to be a battle every possession.
  6. Wow @FrankNicodemus!! Thank you!! You're even starting to convince me that we're good at this. lol Appreciate your loyal support. Keep helping us all spread the good work about HS sports!! Big shout out to @theguru and BGP last night. Hope some heard it.
  7. This is the biggest regular season week we've ever had on (859) Radio. The 3 games have the top 4 teams in the 9th region in them.
  8. Wow this could be our biggest regular season yet and hope everyone can watch all these classics as they will all be streaming on (859) Sports Radio and as always free. 1. CovCath at Lloyd Memorial Monday 2/12 at 7:30 2. Newport at Cooper Tuesday 2/13 at 7:30 3. Lloyd Memorial at Newport Thursday 2/13 at 7:30
  9. Top 2 teams in the 8th Region meet in Independence Tuesday 1/30. Simon Kenton the defending 8th Region Champs and Anderson 18-1. You can watch it on (859) Sports Radio at 7:30.
  10. This game is cancelled tonight and may be rescheduled for 1/20.
  11. Big game in the 33rd as the Boone Co Rebels try to shock everyone but themselves by taking the #1 seed in the District tournament with already wins over Ryle and Conner. Cooper has a loss to Ryle on their schedule and would like nothing more than to take that #1 seed away from Boone. This is a very important game as the 2 seed will have a very tough time with the 3 seed no matter who it is. One X factor going into District play for Cooper is they should have sharp shooter Andy Johnson back by the end of this month. Going to change the dynamic of the entire regional tournament. You can watch this game on (859) Sports Radio.
  12. Going to be a fun game to watch and more fun to call when Lloyd Memorial visits Cooper on Wednesday 1/17 and you can watch it live on (859) Sports Radio. Cooper will be trying to get things worked out after the surprising loss at Ryle Friday and before the upcoming seeding game for #1 in the 33rd on Friday with Boone County. Lloyd has rattled off 8 straight wins and come in 5-0 in the 9th.
  13. Biggest game of the year so far in girls basketball as arguably the biggest rivalry in NKY squares off tonight at 8:00 as Cooper visits Ryle. The Lady Raiders are coming off a 71-47 loss to the #1 team in the state Sacred Heart and Cooper coming off a 44-34 very un Jag like win over Campbell Co. Throw out the record books and the top 10 rankings in this one, it's going to be a battle. You can watch it on (859) Sports Radio at 8:00!
  14. Big 33rd district matchup tonight as Cooper visits Ryle as district play begins. Cooper is getting their players back and will have a lot to say in post season. Ryle one of the most improved teams alone with Boone County. You can watch the game on (859) Sports Radio at 6:00!!
  15. Two top 7 teams meet Wednesday 1/10 as #1 in the State and 3 straight state champs Sacred Heart comes to Union to take on the #7 Ryle Lady Raiders and you can watch it live on (859) Sports Radio!!!
  16. How about Newport 2010 over defending state champs Holmes Bulldogs in 9th Region Finals?
  17. You are correct Scott Draud never had a 3 point line for his 9th Region all time scoring record.
  18. I've got two more: The Simon Kenton gas explosion at the school, students having to attend Scott HS in the evenings which was only a couple years old and then SK subsequent state championship, the 9th Region's first. Scott Draud going for 69 against the Holmes Bulldogs which is still a 9th Region record and should probably never be broken.
  19. I'm glad I'm not as crazy as I thought. I read a tweet that this was a big district game. Threw me off. I know what I'm talking about. lol
  20. Ha, forgive me. Got my regions confused. Both in the 8th and a huge district game. How many years now and I still get confused.
  21. Regions collide when the 10th visits the 8th on Wednesday 1/3 at 7:30 when Scott visits Simon Kenton. Coach Eric Pouncy has the Lady Eagles soaring at 10-2 and Coach Brennan Stowers has the Lady Pioneers primed for another 8th Region run. Can't wait to bring you this one on (859) Sports Radio with Mark Wehry and Coach Nell Fookes on the call.
  22. It's never too early to start talking about Highlands visiting Newport for a huge 36th district game. Last year's districts finals was a record broadcast for us at (859) Sports Radio. Highlands may be a little bit more undermanned this season, but I know Kevin Listerman and he will have those kids ready. Newport will want to make a huge statement to the 9th, especially after the early loss to CCH that this is their region to lose. You can watch this game on (859) Sports Radio Friday at 7:30 with Mark Wehry and Bert Richey on the call.
  23. I was thinking the other day about how quickly social media can explode when something big happens. Thousands and thousands of opinions ranging from obscurity/anonymity to people we all know and trust. I then thought how we all had to wait for the newspaper the next day to read reactions and that was only from a chose few writers and people we know who were there. So I thought I would start a conversation about things we all experienced pre-social media that would have brought the internet to it's knees. The first one I thought of was the year I fell in love with HS basketball when my soon to be Holy Cross Indians had one of the state favorites on the ropes down 14 with 3 minutes to go in the semi's of the districts, only to have the Bulldogs rip my heart out. I then went to Freedom Hall for the state finals and rooted for those same Holmes Bulldogs. Charles Hurt, after the original Laettner Shot to send the game to OT, then went on to put his hand through the net to stop a would be Holmes bucket and Shelby Co was later crowned State Champs. What say you? What else makes the list of viral boys basketball moments?
  24. Thank you my man @FrankNicodemus!! The wedding was spectacular and was getting updates during the rehearsal LOL. What a Friday of football. Only to be topped by my daughter being happier than anyone on those winning teams. That being said, she was as interested in the results as I was. She's the total package. Hope we can paint the picture from everyone. My camera dried out and works, but is audio only for the Cooper game. Go Jags! Going to be a show.
