I'm hoping now that we're in the playoffs, and hopefully not playing in a downpour, we'll see the offense open up( a little). We can't continue to just run QB draw and power every play and expect to win in the playoffs. Even just throwing the the ball 12-15 times, even if you only complete, say, half of them will force the defense to back off a little. If we can do that and the defense play as they have the last few weeks I think CCH should win by a couple scores. -

So defensive. It's not that big of a deal but does look like Rash was trying to rub it in with the going for two, whether the case or not. Surprising so many beechies on here giving excuses, like, the kicker was too tired(lol), than just saying, yeah, maybe he should have just kicked an extra point. -

I think a lot of what you see comes down to scheme and over all team play when that happens. You really think college coaches are offering the guys they don’t think are the best? Or that that can’t tell? There are obviously exceptions from time to time, but for the most part kids get offers because of outstanding individual talent, that doesn’t always though equal great teams. -

D1 players are ALWAYS the most talented players on the field. And FD is always the most talented team on the field unless playing T or similar. However, in football how the team plays as one is much more important than individual talent. Which points back to the coaching as the only possible explanation for FD’s struggles. -

Referring to varsity. In jv if you have no kicker you have to just keep running it. Taking a knee should never be expected. -

Kick the extra point. Who goes for two in that situation?? -

After all the reclassification, from me it will simply be congrats Beechwood when they dominate and win! -

It’s got to be coaching in my opinion. The last few years they have had the most talent of any team in the state outside of Trinity, and they yet underwhelm every year. Has to be a in game coaching and/or preparation thing. For example, When CCH won the state championship in 19, they Did have Mike Mayer, but FD probably had the next best 5-6 players from a talent perspective and would have won that game with better coaching and discipline. -

No idea what your talking about. Didn’t say Beechwood* isn’t flowing the rules, let’s just not pretend it isn’t a huge advantage this year and won’t be for the next few years with all the reclassifications. -

Yeah ok. It’s true though. Beechwood* will be heading it for years to come. -
It was probably the best defensive performance of the year. CCH was really sound across the board at all three levels. Ryle is a really tough team.

I’m all for the 2nd team continuing to score, it’s on the defense to stop them. However, going for two at the end is a bit much. -

Does Boyle have any D1 guys? Whether they do or not they were clearly the much better team. Congrats Boyle County! -

No district banners, but I'll make sure to not take you at your word going forward. Had you said CCH won't likely make it far in the playoffs, like past the 3rd round or so, I would absolutely agree with you! Though I still don't know what makes Ryle at a different level, I mean they would have lost to Dixie had their kicker not skipped the game for a upcoming soccer match and lost to Lex Cath, same as CCH. They are a really good team, but it's not like they are world beaters. -

So the CCH team that won all of their district games isn't very good and will struggle to score against any of the same teams they just went 4-0 against in the district? Makes sense! It's clearly not the same CCH team as years past, but they did just win all their district games. -

To some extent, though I think another post covered it well that given the rivalry it may not be the best comparator. Additionally, that was by far the worst the CCH offense has looked all year, most of it self inflicted inability to execute, so I do think it is an aberration. The offense against most other games hasn't been dynamic by any stretch but has been been much better than that particular night. I also think back to the beginning of the year as well, CCH up by two TD's on Lex Cath only to blow it due to some special teams miscues and a fluke fumble as another comparison. Still, I could see this going either way, I'm sure the CCH D will show up, tbd on what the offense can produce against a tough defense. -

Not sure what to think about this game. I think about comparing the Dixie scores for CCH and Ryle, 28-6 and 13-12, respectively, and think that CCH should be able to pull it out. However, the major offensive struggles in other games, such as against HHS, have me much less confident. In all honesty I don't think I would be surprised by any outcome, outside of a blow out either way. -

If Agee is going to play QB he has to throw some too, otherwise teams will just stack the box and make it very tough sledding for him. -

The offensive struggles are directly related to the QB challenges, and to a lesser extent a more dominant running back. Having Stava would have helped for sure, Though I think the guys we have in the backfield have done a pretty good job considering the lack of a passing threat. We have really good options to throw the ball downfield to, both TE’s, Zion, Agee, etc; we just haven’t been able to do it, or really even tried, very much this season.
