Beechwood 27 Covington Catholic 7

I think poor QB play in this and last years CCH vs Beechwood games had more to do with CCH’s issues. Tigers db’s are quick and aggressive but very undersized. A team with a good Qb and some 6 foot plus receivers/ TE’s should be able to take advantage. Eddie didn’t have enough faith in passing game to even try last week. -

They were chanting "5th year senior" and go to college. But yeah, totally normal for a coach to engage with students from the opposing team. -

Found out what the issue at the end of the game was. Coach Hergott, as soon as game ended started walking toward CCH student section and was yelling and gesturing to them. Super classy. There is a video of it on 859 sports Twitter if your interested. -

It's frustrating for sure. While CCH doesn't have Mayer they do have several really good options to throw the ball to, he just doesn't trust the QB to throw the ball -

I couldn’t believe Eddie just sort of gave up at the end. You have to at least try to score quickly right? -

What did I say that’s inaccurate? I’m saying that Cam is really good and has a huge impact on the game given the critical impact a hs Qb has on a game. I obviously don’t like the rule but it’s allowed so is what it is. -

I think your getting a little carried away. Cam was the entire offense in the first half. I think there were 2 rushes not by him. Beechwood played really well, but without Cam it’s a different game. QB is the most important position by a mile in HS, and CCH and beechwood were miles apart in that category. -

I was shocked at how small Beechwood was outside of Slusher and Jackson, but CCH still couldn’t take advantage. I do think Eddie bears the responsibility of refusing to make adjustments, I mean how many times do we run a bubble screen or see the defense lose contain. Totally out coached. -

Cam is 90% of the Beechwood offense. Everything revolves around him running and the threat of him running. Can’t believe CCH didn’t at least try to put a spy on him. The worst coaching performance from Eddie I’ve seen, by far. Refuses to make adjustments, offense is out of whack, something starts working and then he goes away from it. Doesn’t take advantage of obvious size advantages that CCH TE’s have over the beechwood secondary/lb’s. He was badly out coached. . -
I would still think that is the best game plan for CCH. The 4 teams Beechwood has played so far this year have a combine 2 wins, so I'm not sure how much to take out of the stat's put up thus far. Doesn't mean CCH will win, but they will be the best team that Beechwood has played so far by a wide margin.

There was no misunderstanding, but sure, whatever you say. Beechwood has by far I believe the most repeating football players in NKY. Maybe most parents across the board just want their kids to move on with life and not sacrifice a year for the chance to be a h.s. Football/sports superstar. Anyway… if CCH can keep Cam in the mostly in the pocket and throw from there I think they win 28-24.
-
I would define not struggling as anyone who repeats senior year but only stays for half of it and graduate in December. Gotta stick to talk about the game though... and apparently Mr. Football being back for a 5th year will not impact the game so we should just focus on things that will. To that point; I think for CCH to win they must keep the Beechwood QB in the pocket, shut down running lanes, and force him to throw quickly without scrambling. Which will be a tough task, however, CCH secondary, especially Agee and Mason, were really solid last week so they should be up to the task. CCH will have to be more consistent in the passing game and take advantage of underneath routes to compliment the run game.

Exactly, take a kid with a September Birthday, who didn't turn 17 until that Sept. in his Senior year, he would be a Sophmore in college before turning 19. You could have kids who could technically be young sophmores in college, if they have August or September bdays, playing this year as high school seniors.

Obviously still within the rules, but let's not act like there is no difference or huge advantage between a kid being held back in lower grades, possibly because of being undersized or struggling in school, to high school kids doing it primarily for football reasons. And to have Cam, who just won Mr. Football doing it, you cant seriously believe that is just like some undersized 6th grader repeating. I say embrace it! Beechwood will likely be crazy good the next few years, with all the kids they have repeating across classes.

Believe what you want. That came directly from a current Beechwood football parent. I offered up that insight in relation to another comment on the large number of Beechwood players repeating a year. Which, like it or not, is a huge advantage for Beechwood's team and will continue to be so for the next few years. It is completely the perogative of the parent's to choose to take advantage of the new rule, but there should be no problem with discussing how it will impact the level of success of the team moving forward.
