I agree with your original post 100%. I hate this week of football; and I love football.

I saw the post by the folks who thought the more teams in the playoffs the better, but after looking at this score, and I’m not trying to cherry pick this one, but after looking at this, could we AT LEAST maybe go to a 3 team from each district playoff and give the #1 seed a bye? Is this fun? Are the kids on Trimble CO’s team going to be super happy they made the playoffs?

The 1988 Pikeville Panthers have entered the chat. Dual speed demon running backs in Hackney and Dramus, and they ran a misdirection offense to boot. If memory serves they had a huge d lineman and a linebacker who had a D1 scholarship. Also if memory serves they were rated in the top 3 in the across all classes. Those were men playing against boys.

True! (On the debate) I guess it’s just pretty amazing to have so many people be in the discussion (and ALL legitimate contenders) for our made up award. ? I would ask the Guru to weigh in, but he may need to remain impartial on this site. It would be a good topic for debate at the Saddle Club though.

I mean all great Beechwood players and no disrespect to anyone, but the greatest Beechwood player was Scott Tackett. End of story; full stop.

There was even an inadvertent whistle on that play. I mean, I was standing on the sideline where the play happened and I didn’t even realize the QB had it until he was in the end zone. It was not a fake, it was a glitch in the matrix!

I mean, I’d move this to the top 5 of the state wins.... nothing will beat 1984... that was a game that will be burnt into my 6th grade mind forever... There are some other great State wins, but the fact that this is 2A, in my opinion, answers a lot of questions on whether or not Beechwood didn’t belong in 1A b/c it was too easy. Think about it, two 1pt wins to get to be state champions is pretty awesome. Also, I think it says there were 3 teams in 2A that could easily have been state champs. Nothing against Beechwood’s win... but it came down to 3 or 4 plays over the last 2 games. West Carter and LCA have nothing to be ashamed about... they are great football teams. Beechwood came up 1-2 plays better in each game. I’m happy for that. I love high school football! BTW, I love this website!

Other than the tradition of it, I don't see why CCH keeps it on their schedule. It's a big game for Beechwood, but a blip on the map for CCH. And that's coming from someone who played against CCH on the Beechwood side. Really there's no upside for CCH to play the game. If they win, everybody shrugs and says yeah we expected that; if they lose however, then it kind of looks bad on CCH and great for Beechwood.

Really the only question is late 2nd quarter or early 3rd quarter. Love the Tigers, but CCH is too strong this year. Hopefully both teams end as healthy as they started, and we can all move on to the next game.

Meh.. take the 1 and 2 seeds, possibly 1, 2, and 3 seeds with a first round bye. Taking the top 4 is ridiculous. Or go to a Harbin point system like Ohio. Anything would be better than the current system.

I think Beechwood is moving to 2A next season. That said, I totally agree with your post to the point where Beechwood should be playing in 2 or 3A depending on what location of district opponents makes sense.
