Trimble County travels to Ft. Mitchell for the 1st round of the playoffs to play Beechwood Tigers. According to the Tigers announcers on their Mixlr broadcast Trimble County has only been dressing 13 players. I am not sure if this is true but if it is then this game will be an early running clock. The KHSAA roster shows 25 kids but there could have been some attrition as the season has gone on. Trimble County’s program was non existent for a few years and since reinstating the football team they have had a total of 3 wins in 2 years but this year they have surpassed that number at 4-6 and made the playoffs.
Beechwood is looking to 3 peat this year as Class 2A State Football Champions but they have had a very injury riddled season losing former Mr. Football Candidate running back Mitchell Berger to a season ending knee injury, their starting QB Clay Hayden to a knee injury in the Preseason for 5 games of the year, and OL/MLB Austin Waddell for multiple games in the middle of the season. When your the defending State Champions that is no excuse so it’s the next man up and the Tigers have done that all year. They have a 9-1 record with their only loss to 5A Covington Catholic. This team is finding their new identity on offense without Mitchell Berger while the stingy Tiger Defense should carry them early in these playoffs.

  • I think Beechwood wins by whatever amount they choose, but Coach Genton needs to be given a lot of props. The man took over the program in week 2 of July and made the playoffs in a 6 man district. 4-6

  • So for traveling purposes everyone around them is 2A, Henry is 3A and the Oldhams are 4A,5A, and 6A. The closest district would be Eminence, Frankfort, KCD, Berea or Bracken, Dayton, Bishop Brossart a

  • A bunch of Freshman are going to finish this game off for the Tigers. 55-0 Final!!!!

I knew the numbers weren’t great but 13 players would be insane. I am hoping to come and watch them play Beechwood on Friday.

17 kids? Wow. Hopefully they come to ft. Mitchell this Friday, but it wouldn’t take much for this game to not be played I don’t think.

Beechwood has running clock on them before the half.

I think Beechwood wins by whatever amount they choose, but Coach Genton needs to be given a lot of props. The man took over the program in week 2 of July and made the playoffs in a 6 man district. 4-6 season is best record since 2014.

The widest margin calpreps.com will project for a matchup is 62-0. This game is projected to be 62-0.

Beechwood will roll but I am interested again to see how the offense plays this game. The first 2 weeks are a good time to work on things and refine the offense. They need to figure out their offensive identity. Are they a running team that uses the passing game sparingly? Or Are they going to run their offense through their QB and be able to be successful? They have had so many different identities the last 10 or so years that this team needs to figure that out.

I will never understand why Trimble plays up in 2A instead of playing in 1A.

Do you have any idea if they plan to do it again for the next four years?

So for traveling purposes everyone around them is 2A, Henry is 3A and the Oldhams are 4A,5A, and 6A. The closest district would be Eminence, Frankfort, KCD, Berea or Bracken, Dayton, Bishop Brossart and Ludlow(May be wrong on this one). All of their other sports they compete with surrounding counties. Though rumor of them moving is probably possible but they lose a huge senior class and the roster I think is less than 18 possibly down to 15.

You would think with Bellevue’s future as a program being up in the air Trimble is only 45 mins to an hour from NCC, Ludlow, and Dayton which means a little bit of travel but not to bad. I could see them staying down if that’s the District they would be slotted in.

I was thinking the same thing on Trimble coming to the NKY 1A District.
