To SuperRegional or Not to SuperRegional
Agree. The 15th Region is set up in a way where they keep their district tournaments. If you lose in the semi-finals, you get put in a play back in bracket.

Will McCoy named head boys basketball coach at Franklin Simpson
To me it's pretty simple, position yourself to get to the regional tournament easier. Once you get there, albeit a long shot you have a shot.

Open Job: Paris
After going 3-21 last season, and in a district with GRC and Montgomery Co. I'm surprised they had 4 applicants. To me, an open forum seems to be a way to deflect the responsibility of making an hire.

Open Job: Henry County
Yes he was.

Collins names Derek Tingle head boys hoops coach
Henry County’s Derek Tingle has accepted this position. He led Henry Co. to one of the better seasons going to regional semifinals this past season.

12th Region Off-Season Discussion (2026-2027)
This was a really solid class of Seniors for the 12th region. College commitments I’ve seen thus far: Walker Craig (Rock) Pikeville University, Aedyn Absher (Somerset) Union Commonwealth University, Kendall Phillips (Wayne Co.) University of the Cumberlands. One would have to think Leek Ateny will get a big time offer at some point after all star games. Look forward to following all this talent from our region.

Open Job: Boyd County
Coach Anderson has announced his retirement. He mentioned starting his long career in the fall of 1983. The Lions went to the Sweet Sixteen this past season.
-
Brad Sizemore named South Laurel head coach
Agree. They have been hip to hip the whole way through.

Jordan Gilbert is the new coach at Mason County
What's the relation to the Myrick that played at Covington Catholic this season?

Legendary Head Coach Larry French Passes Away at age 74
What a great man and coach. His wit and sense of humor, and reading young people was a super power.

Open Job: East Jessamine
As far as East goes, I would expect them to be better but like you said they didn’t play many region contenders. The Duke kid is one of the better returning scorers in the region.

Open Job: East Jessamine
I think you’ll see him back at Estill Co.

12th Region Off-Season Discussion (2026-2027)
Rumblings that parents may have had a hand in this one opening.

12th Region Off-Season Discussion (2026-2027)
Pure speculation, but Estill Co. open too where he had a lot of success. Could be going back.

12th Region Off-Season Discussion (2026-2027)
I like the Cards returning roster. I’m with you on Morgan. He had a great season running the PG spot. Edwards has always been a ball dominant guard, so will be interesting to see how that shakes out. Never can have too many ball handlers on the floor.

Aaron Ponder named Madison Southern head coach
Congratulations to Coach Ponder! He has served on staff for three different head coaches. Provides stability for the Eagles.

16th Region Off-Season Discussion (2026-2027)
I was able to catch a few Russell games from this past season. They were a fun team to watch. I would expect them to challenge Ashland.

Lexington Christian Academy hires Mike Stone
Congrats Coach Stone! Solid guy and coach in all my interactions with him. Should inject some new energy into the program. Tough district, good luck!

12th Region Off-Season Discussion (2026-2027)
I do think the Win Percentage represents the best programs year in year out recently. DCA, Pulaski Co., Somerset, Wayne Co. and Lincoln Co. being the top 5. West Jessamine and Boyle Co. right behind it. Boyle Co. would be the slow starter of the region because of football. They have usually finished strong, and have had postseason success winning 2 district championships.
