Huge supporter here of doing away with football entirely and stretching out hoops an additional three months.

So two weeks, just cut from basketball season? How many games will be lost?

Surely we wouldn't think of changing the football schedule. Teams need those first round blowouts to get ready for a deep run.

Michaela accepted a full athletic scholarship to play basketball for the Georgetown Tigers this afternoon. She was the leading scorer for the Demons the final three years of her career, amassing more than 1,200 points So.-Sr., including 576 as a Senior, good for 20.6ppg. Some fun facts from Michaela's Senior season: Leading scorer in the 8th Region. WHS had a 13-3 record when she scored 20+ points. Named MVP of the Christmas at the Capital, averaging 33ppg in the team's three games, including 45 in the semifinals in a 3-point win over Model. On top of all that, she's simply deserving, and too good a kid to not be thrilled for her.

As much as I hate to admit it, adding to the the beginning of the season isn't a good idea if you're an opponent of specialization. I'm all for it, but I may find myself in the minority on this issue.

I didn't spend the weekend in Lexington for pageantry and history. I was there for the hoops, and the hoops delivered. Big time.

That it was the 100th was cool enough. I was there to watch hoops, not videos. Suited me just fine.

I agree with you. Just a sorry reason. What if schools were allotted a certain amount of Finals tickets since that seems to be one of the least attended sessions.

1) If the head coach isn't reasonably holding the players responsible for results vs. expectations, he isn't being a leader of young men. 2) ADs should make the "other duties" no more than a yes or no hassle for a coach, who isn't there to work out logistics. 3) Regardless how much credit one role gets over another, if coach, team, and staff win the region, they get a free trip.

Are you also rewarding student-athletes with tickets and rooms? Assistant coaches? What about managers and statisticians? Book and clock keepers? Trainers? The head coach isn't the only one putting in hours. You want a trip to Rupp on the school's dime, win the region.

All this, except the part about winning, because that hasn't happened around these parts yet, and maybe it won't. If it does though? Those kids become legends. That's worth the wait as a fan.

New restrictions, meaning they have to pay for tickets?

Best playing surfaces? Concessions? Aura? Soundtracks? Henry Co. will always stick out to me, as the coaches and players work tirelessly, or used to anyway, to maintain a terrific venue. I'm also a fan of Walton's old field on campus, as that was the only place I got to take the slow trip around the bases. Where are some other notable ones around the bluegrass?

Deangelo Wilson has been one of my favorite players to watch at Rupp the last couple years. Silky smooth game.
