I remember that there’s been more than 5 with Somerset. They were the best team in AA in 1982 but a 1 point loss to Boyle kept them out of the playoffs.

I had a lot of issues sometimes with Lit, even at the end of seasons. I recall in 1979 Boyle was listed behind four teams we had actually defeated.

Depends upon who you are playing. If you are playing Mediocre High who has rigged their schedule for wins and high RPI, and I am rooting for Tough as Nails High I wouldn't mind going there. Mediocre High may not have played a single, higher level team, until the 3rd Round and face Tough as Nails as their first REAL TEST. Congrats Mediocre High, you just won the Runner-up 3rd Round trophy on your home field.

I think that's more valid argument I hear a lot on these boards. However, my counter to this is simply based on which route "prepares" you for a state title hunt? Suppose a less talented/impressive team has a higher RPI over you, but you have played a tougher schedule against the best competition? Which route is going to prepare you for the tough fight in rounds 3 and beyond to win a state title? The RPI doesn't decide who is in the playoffs and only comes into play in the 3rd round and 4th. I'd rather go to an undefeated, higher RPI and play if they haven't been battle tested against some of the other state contenders. I'd schedule to prepare me to win a title regardless of some RPI numbers. :thumb:

The QB is better than Roller in terms of talent. He is one way. Roller gets breaks on Offense. It’s like I said, one way only ball isn’t the end all, of all.

Sorry Diablo. If it makes you feel better Smith plays both ways. There’s a reason he is going to WVU. People who talk about being fresh cause no one goes both ways is a misnomer. The Linemen, where it matters most went one way for the most part tonight. :thumb: Now, back to the game. Boyle waited patiently and never gave up on being balanced. I thought that showed up in the 4th. HHS D kept them in it but mistakes hurt them late.

Three players. Roller plays TE and rotates off. Depth isn’t important if they don’t have quality.

I think you’re mistaken. Boyle doesn’t play a lot of players both ways. I don’t recall seeing Kelly on the O-Line but in a couple of situations. Plus Boyle rotates in and out at all skill positions. You’re misinformed on Boyle having a lot of two way starters.

Their Offense, yes. Their Defense was very good but wore out in the 4th.

Twice HHS held Boyle to FG’s inside the 5 or it would have been worse. Birds D just got worn down in the 4th Quarter.

That’s what I saw. Boyle’s Offense just waited and responded when they needed to. HHS D in red zone was good or this would have been a running clock.

Rebels Defense was the Story. Just dominated the Highlands Offense in a way they haven’t been dominated all year. One player can’t carry the load vs Boyle’s D.

Boyle plays some players both ways but they sub a lot. Their depth is as good as anyone’s. If Bartelson is healthy they run three backs rotating all the time. :thumb:
