  1. I'm glad to see Etown playing a good opening schedule. The past 2-3 years it's been pretty soft with Marion, East/West Jessamine, and North Oldham who had 2 really bad years. Bardstown has been decent, but not the Tigers of old. This will be a challenging schedule I think. Panthers should have a nice team.
  2. I doubt that HCP. It could be true, but he is an average basketball player. I don't think he has a college future in round ball. I'm not saying he does in football either. I just think he is a better football player. He has more upside in football. He struggles shooting the times I've seen him play. He battles hard in bball and rebounds the ball well.
  3. John will fall off significantly next year. I hate to see it happen, but remember I said it on February 1st. The numbers have dropped big time in the school and the talent level isn't near what it was in years past. I hope they have a solid year, but I see a downward trend getting ready to occur. I am assuming they are still playing a tough out of district schedule. John Hardin very well could be 3A in the next alignment. It's hard to compete with 6A schools (out of district) with 3A numbers. My early guess is 5-5 next year.
  4. I wasn't knocking anyone from John. I just stated they have trouble scoring at times, but so did North. If your referring to Pearson from John I thought he played well.
  5. I don't think North was on empty at all. Kids play all the time nowadays and playing back to back nights doesn't put you on empty by any means. These kids are teenagers. To speak on the North and John game last night I wasn't impressed by either team at all. They both look athletic as can be, but both struggle to score and find points. Especially John Hardin on offense. Jackson was by far the best player on the floor last night. He got to the rim and made several easy buckets. He was the difference in the game. He controlled the glass as well. I thought he showed up late when his team needed him.
  6. I heard the same Mrknownothing. I heard Hobbs controlled the game and especially the 2nd half. 18 points and 17 boards is impressive. I know Pearson can shoot it, but making a living behind the arc shouldn't be his game. If he is on the perimeter he becomes much easier to defend I think. No threat of inside buckets, free throws due to fouls, or offensive rebounds. With that being said John will be fine. It looks like a tough week ahead. Taylor tomorrow and North on Friday.
  7. John will be fine I hope. It's early in the year. No reason to hit the panic button just yet. They have the pieces so I don't think it will be a long year. They just got their football kids back a couple weeks ago.
  8. Dognation what's your take on this one ? I was a little shocked at this score. I thought John would beat Central.
  9. Coach I think you will be surprised. You will be fine. Greenwood and South Warren are still going to be good. I think South has to go down from what they were this year. They lost some really good kids. Losing 3-4 d-1college kids would make you think they would drop off some. FS will handle Monroe and Glasgow. After watching the FS and John game your style and physical prowess will handle those teams. I would guess your physical style of play will give Etown problems as well. That fullback is really good. I think it will come down to FS and Hopkinsville coming out of the west next year.
  10. Regardless of order that IS NOT a brutal out of district schedule for FS. It's not a bad schedule, but far from brutal. Hopkinsville has some tough out of district opponents for sure.
  11. I don't think that is a brutal schedule opening the year for a 4A state finalist. 3 of the 5 opening games are versus 2A opponents. A brutal schedule would be opening against all 5A or 6A schools. Monroe was 3-8 and Glasgow finished 8-3 without any "quality" wins. Allen county was their best win and they struggled. Etown should be pretty good with what they have returning. I just don't see those opponents as what I would consider brutal.
  12. I don't get too excited about individual stats against Fort Knox. Many kids have career night against the helpless Eagles. John should be fun to watch this year.
  13. I can tell you John Hardin will be down as well. They will have some solid pieces, but not enough to contend. The JH backfield will be good. They should take a step back on defense. My projection is 2nd round for JH next year. Maybe region finals if others are down too. I think Collins will be the favorite of this particular region. JC state championship to lose.
  14. Macdon this is what I was trying to say in a previous thread. This JC team was a different type of team. They had it upfront and nobody in 4A could compete with them.
  15. I tried to tell folks on the the other board about this game being a blow out. JC is a different animal. FS folks didn't want to believe it. Sometimes you have to be shown!!!
  16. What the Lafayette player pulled is classless. No room for that in the game.
  17. Yes Trinity has pretty much a bottomless budget. Anything Coach Beatty needs I'm sure he gets. If the school doesn't provide it I bet there is a booster a phone call away. I am not griping because I think it's great for their school and program. I'm just saying it's a huge advantage. Someone told me they had 100 freshman on their freshman team this year. I bet it's very cheap to field a team of 100 freshman, plus JV, and plus varsity!!! Trust me they have no worries financially. I bet other schools wish they could have their "tough" budget crisis.
  18. The majority of the state could careless about Trinity winning another title. Guess what .... they should win EVERY year. To me if they don't something is wrong. They have more kids in the school, more players, endless resources because they are a private school with rich tradition, enough coaches to have a coach per position on offense and defense, pulling some of the best kids in the Louisville area, and the list could go on and on. Trinity winning another title is expected. If they didn't win people should be talking. To speak on Lafayette I have heard discipline was an issue the past couple years.
  19. Purple adoptee... that's what I'm trying to say. I think JC is a different bird. I guess FS will have to find that out first hand. Belfy is LOADED and JC almost won. I guess at least they have the chance to play them. I wish I could watch John play next week. It would have obviously been the same results.
  20. I'm not going to argue with you macdon. I guess you will just wait and see next week . You guys have a good team, but to think FS is great on offense is pretty inaccurate. They are solid on offense, but I saw John play against at least 4 better offensive teams this year. FS is winning with defense.
  21. FS will NOT beat Johnson Central. Write it down. I will gladly eat crow.
  22. FS QB got knocked out of the game last night with a concussion. He was rocked on several plays last night. JH was very physical on defense until they wore out late. I can't speak on any other players. Most of the time kids are not allowed to come back in one week from a concussion.
  23. I know you can't just go off scores, but I can't see Johnson Central losing this one. They must be a machine. Franklin is very good defensively and that should keep them in the game for a while. However, I wasn't overly impressed with them offensively. I think JC will win big. I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't a 35-7 JC win.
  24. I think that is probably a very fair and accurate assessment. It should be a heck of a ball game. I'm like you, I think who takes care of the ball the best could be who wins this ball game.
