Big Saucy Posted December 13, 2016 Posted December 13, 2016 Dognation what's your take on this one ? I was a little shocked at this score. I thought John would beat Central.

Great win for the Bruins...honestly no one in the Bulldog camp saw this one coming. Gotta give all the credit to Central though; they fought hard. It's difficult to win in that gym...they have great support. I do think John is a better team than Central though...time will tell. Pearson didn't shoot the ball well. Learning experience for the Dogs

Pearson didn't shoot the ball well. Learning experience for the Dogs This was a tale of 2 halfs. Bruins didn't move the ball well in 1st and shot a dismal 8 for 31 in that half. 2nd half the Bruins shot 59% from the floor. John is very athletic and quick and will continue their improvement throughout the season. It is very early and this was just one game. Pearson didn't shoot well, that is correct but it may have had to do with having Hobbs with length playing defense on him too. My opinion Guillory is the key to JHHS success, the ball should go though his hands often! Good win for the Bruins!

The shots he took are well within his wheel house...they didn't go in. He's been guarded by better defenders than Hobbs (not taking anything away from Hobbs; he had the game of his life) but I'm confident round two will be better for the Dogs. John Hardin's biggest issue is they don't know their roles on the team. Until the team buys in to their individual roles; it's gonna be a long season
Big Saucy Posted December 13, 2016 Author Posted December 13, 2016 John will be fine I hope. It's early in the year. No reason to hit the panic button just yet. They have the pieces so I don't think it will be a long year. They just got their football kids back a couple weeks ago.
MrKnowNothing Posted December 13, 2016 Posted December 13, 2016 I think Hobbs looked dominate in second half and Pearson played either scared or shell shocked by Hobbs play. I have no doubt Pearson has faced better but it seems Pearson didn't want to take the ball inside to Hobbs either when Pearson's shot wasn't falling. I think if Pearson begins the inside and outside game he will become unstoppable. Pearson has to quit trying to shoot the 3.
Big Saucy Posted December 14, 2016 Author Posted December 14, 2016 I heard the same Mrknownothing. I heard Hobbs controlled the game and especially the 2nd half. 18 points and 17 boards is impressive. I know Pearson can shoot it, but making a living behind the arc shouldn't be his game. If he is on the perimeter he becomes much easier to defend I think. No threat of inside buckets, free throws due to fouls, or offensive rebounds. With that being said John will be fine. It looks like a tough week ahead. Taylor tomorrow and North on Friday.
dognation Posted December 14, 2016 Posted December 14, 2016 Guys stop it please...before last night the kid was shooting 45% from the field from 3 point land. He missed some shots...Hobbs had a good game. John will be fine. Time will tell...I know for a fact Pearson's not afraid of Jacob Hobbs....geeesh
MrKnowNothing Posted December 14, 2016 Posted December 14, 2016 Agree that John will be fine. But I have to say in second half Pearson was scared/timid to go at Hobbs. Maybe you can help him for the second roind game.

MrKnowNothing Posted December 14, 2016 Posted December 14, 2016 Sounds good to me.. Didn't mean to hit a sensitive spot here. Just felt Pearson played timid and settled for jumpers rather than taking the ball inside at Hobbs. But I do think John will be fine

Until the team buys in to their individual roles; it's gonna be a long season I didn't say anything to take away what Pearson has done this season nor did I say Hobbs was a lock down defender by any means. I just mentioned that Hobbs has enough length to make it harder for Pearson to get his shot off. You have to admit that it is harder to shoot over 6'6" than 6'. I have respect for JHHS as an athletic basketball team and I know that it is early in district play. Wouldn't say Hobbs had the game of his life either. He took shots well within the offense and never forced anything or tried to "take over". I just know that as always, the 17th District is probably the toughest in the 5th region. It will be interesting to see how the rest of the season plays out. Good luck to all.

Jacob is a good kid and he played a great game, as a sophomore to boot. Central is a scrappy team; and that's not meant to take away from their basketball abilities, because they can play. If you play them you better put them away when you have the chance. Good luck to all as well
