Here's the list of 5A Champions for anyone that is curious since it got brought up inthe previous post. 2020-Bowling Green 2019 -Covington Catholic 2018- South Warren 2017-Covington Catholic 2016- Bowling Green 2015 - Bowling Green 2014- Pulaski County 2013- Bowling Green 2012 - Bowling Green 2011-Bowling Green 2010- Highlands 2009- Highlands 2008 -Highlands 2007 -Highlands But when looking at the non state title matchups too, there are just certain areas and schedules that I don't give the benefit of the doubt too.

"Walk softly and carry a big stick." Some of the WC folks seem to be walking loudly with a small stick. WC has not had a history of being a powerhouse. Really that entire area outside of Covington Catholic hasn't had that much success, especially against the other parts of the state. On the flip side South has underachieved a lot given what they have too. But I just don't see WC being a huge threat to South. I think WC will have trouble scoring and unless WC can get pressure on Veltkamp, I see South being able to score. Veltkamp struggles when under pressure, but it's very hard to get him under pressure with that OL. South is a more overall talented team. I think they have several players that will be by far the best talent on the field. And I can't believe I'm saying this cause it's usually not the case, but I trust South's schedule more than WC. Give me South 14+.

From what I saw FD gave Owensboro the game who then went on to get smoked in the title game.

I'm going with FD if the teams are close. FD gave the game away last year, I wouldn't think they would do it again.

Where I was going with this is if the teams are very close than FD will win. I watched the game last year and FD did everything they could to lose that game. If FD wasn't as good this year or Owensboro wasn't that could change my opinion. BUT if the teams are close this year I would think FD wins this game. They should have won it last year. Plus I didn't know how bad losing their D1 QB would hurt Owensboro. Hard to say because of Owensboro schedule.

Owensboro fans: Is Owensboro a better team right now than they were this time last year? FD fans: Is FD a better team right now than they were this time last year?

I would overlook Logan. Boyle will have a running clock on them by half time probably. JC/Boyle would be a heck of a game, but I would take Boyle. Hope we get to see it.

Boyle County is one of the top 2 or 3 teams in the entire state. They will put a running clock on Logan County probably by halftime. Rebs roll big time.

This usually can't be said, but in this case it can, I trust South's schedule more than Woodford. I know the athletes that South has too. And while South is not a great team, they are the best team in 5A this year. 5A is just really down this year. I see South winning this by 14+. Most likely it will be close in the first half, but I see South pulling away in the second half. SOUTH 38-20.

Well it's not about being a BG fan can still be objective with being a fan of one team or another and it's pretty clear they blew that call. These refs didn't get lucky they should get reprimanded and completely split up and not allowed to work in the same unit again. This was the worst officiating crew I've seen all year other than the ones that were in the BG McCracken County game. Those refs probably should be fired.

Completely disagree I have seen several still shot photos from different angles it wasn't really even close. It's sickening that the reps missed such an easy call.

There are several more angled of it too going around. It's really sickening and inexcusable.

There are screen shots going around. It was an easy inbounds call. I thought it was a TD watching it live. It's inexcusable. A 10-0 lead for BG makes the game completely different. But there is no excuse for that disastrous first half ending for BG. South got a lot of help from the refs on that play too. But BG never should have been in that position to begin with.

Refs took an obvious TD off the board on a blatantly bad out of bounds call. BG's disaster at the end of the first half. Also South got a lot of help from the refs on that last play of the half too. Score should have been 10-0 BG at half. I would have liked to have seen what would have happened then. But when South took a 7-3 lead there the game took a turn. BG's offense was just too lacking of talent, speed and experience this year. Defense can only do so much. South had a much better team this year than BG. The Purples coming off a state championship last year just lost a lot and were caught in a gap year. But the next 3+ years are going to be fun for BG fans. Onward and upward.

Boyle County is definitely better than South. Father Ryan is definitely better than South. St. X is definitely better than South.

Well it's definitely more of the BG offense not being good than South's defense.
