I have seen a lot of coaches that will go for the 2 on the second or third TD. That way when the time comes you just kick the xp and all the sensitive people are none the wiser.

If you bothered to read any of the posts you will see that I clearly said Paintsville is very good and the horrible officials were not the deciding factor in this game. They are good enough to play at Kroger field for a state championship. That does not mean that the officials were not horrible in this game.

It happened every time. They reset it one time because coach Salmons finally told them he wasn't calling plays as long as the music is on.

We don't huddle and call our plays in from the sideline. We were on the white hat all night about the music playing.

I said that Paintsville is very good! Turning the ball over, kicking a punt to a defensive lineman that he returns for a TD, not being able to run the ball. These are reasons why we lost. As terrible as the officiating was it is not the deciding factor in this game. My biggest problem was all that they let go. One example is the music playing between every snap while the play clock is running and we can't get our plays called.

The two pass interference calls were smart plays by the defenders. They were beat so they interfered to stop TD's. 15 yard penalties instead of 6 points. Like the rule or not they were heads up plays that prevented points.

The type of penalties and the timing made a huge difference! Paintsville had an offside on kick return, false start in victory formation, I think one holding which was ridiculous for the amount that was actually going on. Two fouls on Paintsville on an onside kick that offset each other somehow. Two pass interference that the referees had no choice but to call. If you honestly believe this game was called evenly you are to biased to argue with about it. I am not a referee basher. They have a tough job and I respect them for doing it. Tonight was possibly the worst I have ever seen.

I have never come on here and said anything about officiating but the way this game was called was ridiculous. With this crew it would be next to impossible for anyone to go in there and win. Paintsville is very good! Paintsville plus that officiating crew would never lose a game.

I agree 100% with oldercoach if you don't have the foundation and support then I believe scheduling up to much would do more harm than good. I know that BW plays a murderous schedule but look in their trophy case. Raceland also plays no 1A teams other than district games. Once you have community support and a winning tradition established by that time your feeder systems are probably where they need to be. At this point scheduling up is in my opinion only going to make your team better.

My gauge for Paris is their game against Nicholas. I'm glad they are having a good year but they are not Raceland, Paintsville or Hazard. I said in another thread and still think it's true that Friday is the first of two between Raceland and Paintsville and that winner gets Hazard.

Not comparing the two and I get your point but the only 1A schools that Raceland plays are district games.

I think people like to talk about it and hope they can but realistically I dont think any believe it.

Raceland is healthy right now. As far as I know should be full strength friday

I absolutely agree. We are literally 2 plays from being 6-1. Coverage mistake against PW and Somerset or we win both those games.

Here's what I've seen this year. We have 2 very tough losses against very good opponents. Then a loss to an Ashland team that turns out is better than we thought at the time. Fans are fickle, they see 4-3 and think oh we aren't very good. I think Paintsville's tough matchup this week could have an effect on the Raceland game. What I dont agree with is to say Raceland could steal a win. With or without an effect from that game we can beat Paintsville. Paintsville can beat us. I look for it to be very similar to last year's games. I also fully expect this to be the first of two games between us and Paintsville and another big one coming in the playoffs with everything on the line.

This score doesn't tell the story. Paintsville went up 36-0 in the 2nd quarter. After halftime it was Fairview varsity vs Paintsville JV. Fairview scored 22 unanswered then Paintsville went back to the varsity and scored in one play where Allen piggy backed a kid for about 20 yards before he fell off and Allen rumbled into the end zone. I could be wrong but I dont think Fairview had a single first down when it was 1's vs 1's.

I would not say satisfied with how the season has gone so far. We felt like we had chances to beat Portsmouth west and Somerset. I personally am confident that we can win out and win our district and make a run in the playoffs all the way to lexington. As far as beating Paintsville goes I think they are a very good team. I don't think they are as tested as we are. They have only played 2 teams with a winning record. One of them beat Paintsville and the other is Lawrence Co. I don't mean that as a knock on them and again I think they are a very good untested team.

In my opinion we have shown that if we play we can play with any team in 1A. We had our chances to win this game. Somerset made big plays when they had to have them and we didn't.

Like I said in my first post. You're basically choosing to hurt one kid to protect another.

I understand the point of the rule. If its away from the ball then there is no need for it and it should be flagged. If it is at the point of attack I hate it. I have coached for a long time and anyone who has can tell you the kid that is not going hard is the one who will get hurt. You are basically saying they should set a screen like in basketball but with pads and a helmet on. Which means absorb the hit from someone who is going full speed. In my opinion telling your kid to get hurt to keep from hurting someone else.

I'm going to say the most potential I've seen all year. Blake Hester from Ashland. Only a soph and I think the kid will be very special.

I finally got the chance to sit and watch Somerset game from last week. Their defense is hard to really get a feel for how good they are. They had at least 8 and a lot of the game 9 in the box. They will not be able to do that with us. I think we can hold their offense in check we are faster defensively than Rockcastle. We have to wrap up the QB he is very good once he gets running. Their stand out player to me was not an offensive player. We have to keep #11 out of the backfield. That looks to be a very tall order. He is very explosive and strong and in my opinion very capable of wreaking havoc on your offense. I would not be surprised if he plays a big role on the outcome of this game. After watching and studying the film I am going to go out on a limb here and pick the Rams to pull the upset. Rams-20 Jumpers-12

I believe if we cut out the turnovers this will be a very good game. I think Somerset is the best team on our schedule and we can't have dumb mistakes and win. We still have not put together 4 quarters that everything is clicking (not against good competition) when/if we are able to do that we are much better than people think. Until we do then we are probably right at our rank at 5th in A. Anyone making the trip be safe and we'll see you Friday.

There is a lot of work to be done. I think tonight and next week will be great for us no matter the outcome. The next two after that are the ones that matter.

West is a good team. We shot ourselves in the foot with turnovers. Do that against good teams and you lose. A pick 6 on our opening drive. A fumble on the snap inside our own 20 and a fumble inside their 20 when we were driving. Thats 10 points for them and at least 3 probably off the board for us. They made plays when they needed them. Great effort from their kids they were hungry and played hard.
