SK will win by 2-3 scores. Racke will put on the first act of a season long show. Everything will run through him as it should, he is a standout athlete. Too much size and athleticism for CAL to keep up all game. Halftime score might only have Simon up 3-10 points, but the end will be 2-3 scores.

Doesn't seem to be helping Ally Niece. She's been on the top Kentucky Premier team for a couple years I think and she's still only got two offers I believe. Xavier and NKU. Not sure your theory is correct.

Hear what your saying but disagree. All things being equal (both teams play their best game) Simon wins 10 out of 10 times. And SK has their history with Ryle to prove it. Wasn't Ryle supposed to challenge SK last year, but neither game felt close. Until Ryle shows something against SK I don't see it happening. I imagine Cooper or Bryan Station being just as tough if not tougher games.

Simon will dominate again this year. Williams and Racke. Having a drop back passer QB is not as effective in high school ball as having an efficient passer that can run. Racke is one of the best all around athletes in NKY. To win they need to keep doing what they do well. QB keep mixed with a few run plays and short passes. Simon Kenton will be the team leaving NKY once again in the playoffs this year.

I don't think there's any shady stuff going on either. I am very curious as to what is going to happen. Was hoping someone could shed some light on the plan for her? It's almost July, would think something like that would be decided by now. I realize they could wait till the last minute, but the rumors are circulating and it's hard to know what's actually true or not. SK has a lot of depth already, it will affect a lot of players if she comes to SK.

So maybe this should be its own thread, and I'm unsure what's bluegrasspreps legal to say here. But can anyone give any information about the Harney girl coming to SK or a different team? I would think this would need to be decided soon? I bring this up here because it would certainly would influence the top ranked teams. If she lands at SK that will be huge. Some of said its Holy Cross, SK or Highlands. But then others chimed in with tons of other options. Can anyone shed light on the situation? It will have an immediate impact on whatever team and the surrounding players she picks. It seems like no one at SK really knows anything and yet everyone is wondering what's going to happen. Someone out there must have insight?

Great job Maddie! Saw her play this summer, she looked really, really good. Her length is crazy, seems to get a hand on every ball near her. She was a force offensively, no surprise Xavier wants her already. Quickness and ball handling, super athletic, high IQ. She's going to be fun to watch over the next four years. Congrats Maddie!

I will give you that that particular comment was borderline, however my opinion is that his qualifying comment "I don't know the Martins" was meant to say that he's not judging their character, just this situation (or the constant switching schools situation). Everyone else's comments are good and are doing exactly what this thread is meant to do. Furthermore, if your child or someone you know well is good at sports you should understand that people are going to discuss your child. That's an unfortunate consequence of being good. Imagine what star athletes go through. Instead of being bitter I would encourage you to see it as a positive thing. How many girls basketball players get their own thread with multiple pages of discussion? Take it as a compliment abour how good she is. If she wasn't one of the best players in nky no one would care. I for one would definitely like to know why she is going to highlands? If there is some noble non basketball reason please share. I also would like to know how she is able to legally transfer under KHSAA rules too. I'm not saying it's illegal, I just would like to know.

So are you saying there is some non basketball related reason for the transfer? Or are you just saying the Martins are good people? Cause I don't think anyone was saying derogatory things about the parents or Jenna. Your have a very condescending tone when the title of the thread is asking people to discuss why she's transferring. Maybe you should take your high values to the moderator and have it out with then for creating the thread?

I think your actually helping make my point. Pike was a good high school QB (not as good as Towles - Clyde, I don't think he's talking about Pat here). If Pike had a better surrounding cast he would have put up better stats. Just because he burned up in college - that had nothing to do with his talent. As far as last years highlands QB I would say he was excellent and one of the better players in nky. If you saw highlands play, his surrounding cast was also weak (for Highlands!). He also had a new head coach. Would the D1 colleges passing on "better" QB's last year? No - he was the best talent they felt. And like I mentioned - I trust their studies opinions about who the best players in nky are

To seperate out D1 offers completely from the best players doesn't make much sense. In fact you could argue the best players are less likely to have significant stats based on team planning, players surrounding them, etc, and more likely to be noticed by D1 coaches. For example the best RB in KY could play on a pass heavy team and his stats/impact in season wouldn't compare as well as others. D1 programs have several people being paid FULL TIME to discover who the best players are (in this case in nky). I think it makes a lot of sense to trust them over any stat or in season performance. So in my opinion I think the D1 offers does best reflect the best players in nky. Morgan, Barnes, C.Williams are therefore in my opinion the best players in nky right now.

I thought you could live out of district and pay to go to Highlands? Like Beechwood. Is this not correct?

Can anyone speak to the reason behind Martin choosing Highlands? She has accepted a college offer already. Highlands always has good basketball, but it's not like they're loaded like Holmes, MasonCo, SK, Campbell. If she wanted to get to a state tourney her senior year, these teams probably have better chances. Assuming they still live in Grant County, that is pretty far too. Can't imagine it's easy relationally to pick up and move schools your senior year. Is there a Highlands connection?

SK will be a dominant team again, returning all top players. In addition to Ally, Madi Meier and Shelby Harmeyer will be included in the top 8th region players this coming season. Current 8th graders Maggie Jones, Matty Vickers and Morgan Stamper will be three names you will hear on a regular basis out of independence.

This seems kind of petty, if I offended you I apologize. Brenden coaches the JV so he is having direct contact with every girl not starting, I know he does individual training with key varsity players, he seems more engaged in direct coaching with the girls also and most importantly he is Stowers son! However, once again this is just an off the cuff opinion based on observations from a distance. You seem to have a much closer view of things, so if you think Olmstead is more the 2nd person to Stowers then it's probably true. This started because you listed the female coaches at SK without even including Brenden so that's why I brought it up. And SK is losing the freshman female coach too, so it's like 2 males/2 females now too.

I've never stuck around and watched practice. Again, Coach Olmstead is clearly a part of the coaching staff. IMO I just think Brenden has a stronger role and influence on the program. I certainly could be wrong, just my opinion from the peanut gallery view

No disrespect towards Coach Olmstead, nor did I forget her. I was just saying it seems like Brenden Stowers is more the main assistant coach. You listed the SK coaches like he wasn't around, you said, "Asst. head coach is a female and both freshman coaches are female". When in reality two males are basically running the SK girls program.

Don't you think Stowers son is more the assistant head coach? I'm surprised by the numbers, I would have thought closer to 50% would have been female. I know our head coach is missing our assistant/JV female coach from last year, girls need that female relatability I think.

It's a travesty that she's not on the court more.

I am very disappointed that there are people who would put $ ahead of fairness in competitive scholastic sports. What is even more disappointing is that the KHSAA and others allow and turn a blind eye to it. A small school that lost their district season games does not deserve a chance to go to the regional tournament, that's the underlying point of competition and fairness. Nothing like this would EVER happen in the real world, you have to earn your spot, work harder and better than the next person. You don't help kids on these small school teams learn anything by sending them to the regional show because their a small school that "would never get a chance otherwise". I kind of wish Mason had lost to Bracken. Because as others have said the outrage would have been HUGE, and rightly so. The Mason faithful are so loyal that they may have been able to create a change in policy over this. I mean this as a compliment to Mason County fans.

HC will try to make a game of it but will not be able to keep up by the end. Holmes by 10. Holmes and Ryle have separated themselves from the pack in the 9th and until they are upset by someone they will be the favorites. Holmes should win this game, they are the better team right now.

Any time you spend on the court helps you get better. It's about who works harder and smarter once they get to high school.
