Yesterday as I watched the sweet 16 final is it just me or is the noticeable lack of effort the khsaa puts into creating big time atmosphere for state football finals vs basketball. They had a light show, introductions with pictures of each starter, pump up music, they always have a professional highlight video played prior to hand that they make up in less than 2 hours. For football they play the same 5 classic rock songs during each warmup and the teams just run onto the field with the PA guy saying “here comes...” would it hurt to at least bring our some smoke machines or something. They have a full week to get ready why can’t teams submit clips from hudl and the khsaa make a highlight montage of the two teams playing based off the hudl clips they submit. Maybe I’m wrong but I think it’s very noticeable the difference.

Fort Knox beat Fort Campbell friday in the annual Army Bowl 19-10 for the 1st time in 16 years! Knox scored with a minute left to take 13-10 lead and then blocked a game tying field goal and ran it back 80 yards for final score. Big win for the Fort Knox program.

Any chance Fort Knox makes any moves? They finished regular season 4-6 and trailed Russellville 21-14 going into the 4th qtr in the playoffs. I saw on the KHSAA site they have 47 players out this year.

Fort Knox gave Russellville fits for 3 qtrs last week score was 21-14 to start the 4th qtr before they pulled away.

Caverna got a win over Green County according the KHSAA site with forfeit win due to ineligible player.

I was running down on kickoff and got caught in a wall return and got a clean lookout block on me, saw him at the last second next thing I know my feet were above my head and then I was on the ground. I got up and went to the sideline, my head was pounding and I felt sick. I went to my coach and said "Coach I don't feel so good" he replied " I bet he knocked the snot out of you!" and that was it, I went in the next series and played the rest of the game, that would never happen today. This was in 2004 things have changed quickly!

For comparison Pennsylvania just moved to 6 classes last year, and they only drew 14,127 for the whole weekend, pretty low for what is known as a football state.

Fort Knox and Fort Campbell are not private schools they don't get to pick and choose who attends their schools its just like a public school if you live in the school district that is who attends the school. You can't live off post and come on base to school unless you are a senior who attended those schools your junior year. You can't live on post and go to hardin county schools either even though it happens every year

I grew up in Western PA and all the Pittsburgh public city schools shared one decent size stadium their was 10 high schools at one time now their is only 6 due to charter schools and other issues. They play a doubleheader on Friday and one game Saturday night. The early game of the doubleheader when it is two city schools they will sometimes play at noon and they bring over the entire schools for the game to create a big atmosphere and then dismiss the students from the stadium when school is over its cool idea I always felt

They are not going ot hire anyone from the outside, there are bases in europe closing and downsized along with the schools all those teachers are placed in any openings around Dodea. The only way its happening is if the can get someone put on the sub list then they can coach there or maybe hire someone as an instructional assistant.

The hiring freeze does not apply to dodea teachers right now as they fall under the department of defense which has not been frozen. However the past several years if a teaching opening does come open it is often filled from somone already in the system whose previous job was downsized.

There is a lot of misconceptions about Pennsylvania and Coaching. I grew up there and went to school there before moving to Kentucky for my teaching job several years ago. First off PA teacher pay is one the best in the country and cost of living is very reasonable. However teachers get tenured after their 2nd year, so people do not leave jobs very often. This has created a huge problem when it comes to coaches being in the building. If you are fortunate to get a job along with coaching even if you get fired from coaching, but you survive for 2 years you are set and don't have to give up what pays the bills. Getting a job is super competitive unless you have a relative on the school board good luck getting a job (hence why I took a job here, but I love living here by the way!) Many head football and other coaches, are Para Pro's or teachers in other school districts, it has become a rare thing to have the head coach as a teacher in the building and this goes for all sports, the team that won the AA basketball title last year there head coach was a state cop! Also pay isn't that much different either, I am from Western PA which as you guys know is a hotbed for high school football and many head coaching stipends run around the 9000-10,000 dollar range. My point is while there is lots of talent, huge community support and football is still very important to the area, but the good old days of getting hired to just coach and hang around the building have long left Pennsylvania. Any idea what there coaching staff is looking like? The last few years they have only had 4 or 5 coaches including the head coach seemed like 3 last year from what I saw on the sidelines. Obviously the head coach is gone and my nephew is on the freshman team at central hardin and he told me his freshman coach was the defensive coordinator at knox the last few years
