Tough place to coach because your supply of talent is a revolving door.

No support from the administration anymore . That is why they cannot keep anyone and the main reason Berner left

Berner resigned for another reason...another job, business that he is ultra successful in.

Yes he did but he was very unhappy his last year there as the administration had no love for the sports programs. It shows that he got out at a good time

Worlds apart from when Berner and Marshall Patterson were there. At one time one of the premier programs in Western Kentucky.

Any news on this job?

With a hiring freeze in the federal system...I bet it will be hard to get a coach hired for this job. The only way I could see someone getting this is if they were with in the system. Maybe with there at Campbell or Knox...possibly overseas?

The hiring freeze does not apply to dodea teachers right now as they fall under the department of defense which has not been frozen. However the past several years if a teaching opening does come open it is often filled from somone already in the system whose previous job was downsized.

From my understanding there is a hiring freeze for the DODEA agency, which governs Fort Campbell. They were informed of this yesterday and there are only exemption hirings that can be made. This may change but that is what they have been told.

So lets say that freeze carries on for an extended period. Do you promote an assistant because that's your only option?

Logically, it seems that would be the only option. I mean, maybe they could name him interim or something like that. But, if you can't hire anyone at all from the outside, the only options would be to promote an assistant, have someone who isn't paid, or to shut down the program.

One of those options isn't possible (shutting it down.)

One of those options isn't sane (having someone who isn't paid)

It feels really weird seeing FC like this.

Well they can have reallocations which means they could get someone who is already in the federal system, which can only be from other DODEA schools...such as Fort Knox or other schools over seas. They may be a way around it...not sure how though.

They are not going ot hire anyone from the outside, there are bases in europe closing and downsized along with the schools all those teachers are placed in any openings around Dodea. The only way its happening is if the can get someone put on the sub list then they can coach there or maybe hire someone as an instructional assistant.
