Sounds like a fun one to watch. BSac wins league title & Pius the tourney title . . competition makes them all better. I assume Mayer had a big game for Pius? I'm very familiar with Pius 8th grade team. They've played a lot of fun games over their 3 years. Hoping they can finish it out with another regional title. No matter their fate, will go down as one of best Pius classes ever. Look forward to a few of them teaming up with BSac boys, et al, as Colonels.

How'd these game turn out?

Doesn't seem logical, does it? I'm still perplexed why the #6 & #7 teams aren't given the chance to participate in a post season game! Looks like possibly another classic SVA / Pius 8th grade matchup in Semis.

Gary & brother Barry coached St.Pius to the 2014 8th grade boys NKMSAA championship. Class acts!

They have (2) very good HS players (Rode, Fr & King a Junior), plus Hendrickson a solid Sophomore. They, however, need better guard play to become a factor. Hunt (Freshman Guard) starting varsity seems to have a lot of potential. . very quick, but likes to shoot 3-ball more than penetrate. Needs to spend all summer working on true point guard skills. Tough to play in 11th without quick guards.

Was good to hear Gary Ball's voice again. Reminded me of so many exciting games he called on the radio in NKY years ago. I took the football comment somewhat differently, referring to the kids toughness & desire to mix it up. Oh well.

I had watched LCA earlier this year; thought they'd give NCC a good game. The early 13-0 start was killer. Both bigs, Weyer & Tre King (LCA) played well, somewhat offsetting each other. The difference was NCC's quicker, better ball handling and shooting guard play.

A lot of preseason Taylor Co picks. Those are not looking too good. A few Dunbar winners & some CCH winners. Both are still legit, Dunbar probably more so. My Colonels still with good shot, but young. Speaking of young teams, has Dunbar played Scott Co. yet?

Who did they beat? Score?

Cole Von Handorf to "The" DALAI LAMA CVH coached by Joe Frederick, who played against Calbert Chaney in college, who played against Michael Jordan in NBA, who played on same team as Bill Murray in Space Jam, who caddied for The Dalia Lama. So Cole has that going for him . . .

Not sure what you mean, the announcer voiced his passion, thought was great.

Goodin played against (1)Coach Ruthsatz who coached against (2) Billy Hicks in state tourney, who coached against (3) Vee Sanford at LexCath, who (at Georgetown) played against (4) Jim Boeheim, who coached against (5) John Thompson, who coached against (6) Michael Jordan in early 80's Ncaa Title game.

I'm thinking somehow if there is a connection between Quentin Goodin and Vee Sanford (LexCath / Georgetown), you could link Goodin to Jordan with John Thompson.

As I recall, the Middle School team with Hall / Pangallo, et al was very good (not sure which school?). It seems many were saying they would lead NCC with great results. I know they beat the CCH trio (Mayer/Ruthsatz/Lenihan) a few times (8th grade). Is that class still in tact? (I am not overly familiar with the NCC guys). If so, the idea of a well-balanced team with a lot of experience together, may better serve the program than recent years with more individual type star players.

Thelen for Pius dunked 3 times last year in games. They were allowed.

Got to see Lafayette play Friday night. I like their team. They have a very nice big kid (Jenkins) who knows his (scoring) role in the paint and a good combination of many shooting and quick guards. Rebounding by someone other than the big kid may be a concern, but they will be tough at tourney time. 11th region with 4 teams in Litk top #10, thats a tough road to Rupp.
