  1. 100% spot on! A 6'5 center in HS bball that scores 20 a game. Will never get a d1 bball offer. He's to short. But a 6'9 kid scores 8 a game will.
  2. If your big. Play at an average level. I think you can get offers on size/speed alone.
  3. Sure. But you have to play to get an offer.
  4. You are spot on. It's a meat market. If size/speed fits your in!
  5. Why does height play into this so much? I think d1 is about what can be. It's easy to offer a huge kid with less back ground. Than a great player undersized.
  6. If you are the best OL in your state. If your 6'0. You won't be playing D1 as an OL. No matter how good your are. Why is that??
  7. if that's the case. Why dont you ever see a 6'0 OL in D1?
  8. My question is. Is a D1 full schorlship played born or made with hard work? Are the phyiscal skill needed to play at that level. God given or made on the feild and in the weight room? I believe it's God given. Can not teach big/fast.
  9. Not having varsity film. That may be the case.
  10. the height does put him on the radar. My son was offered on the fact he is big and Athletic.
  11. If this young man has not played varsity football and has never been to any camps. How does any of the schools know about him?
  12. Free/Reduced Camp Admission High-school, preparatory school or two-year college athletes, or any other individual being recruited by an institution, may not be given free or reduced admission privileges to any camp/clinic.
  13. I think it's a blend of film/speed/size. You could have great film but play in a football weak area. So the size/speed gives coaches another measuring stick to use. If your the strongest best tackle in the state great film but 6'0 your not playing d1 as a tackel. D1 coaches will offer the 6'5 tackle that your better than.
  14. I will say this. My son was offered by D1 schools that had never times his 40. Then agian he wasn't offered for his speed. In fact he did run for WKU with a bad knee (surgey weeks later) and they still offered a PWO spot. Came to school the day before NSD and tried to talk him into forgoing a free ride at another school.
  15. If your d1 you better be very fast as a skill player. There are a lot of fast small kids. The smaller you are the faster you need to be. A 6'4 220lb kid running a 4.7 is much more impressive than a 5'9 175lb kid doing the same thing.
  16. If we are talking d1 full ride. It's size/speed and body of work. Having speed or size is what puts you on the coaches recruiting board. you have to fit that mold. it's like being the best basketball center at 6'5. In HS you scored 20 ppg 10 reb. But your not going to get a D1 offer at that height. But a 7'0 center that only scored 10 a game will.
  17. Dixie heights kid ran a 5.01.
  18. Half a second?? I don't think so.
  19. So Powell ran slower than a 4.88 40? He is not listed in the top 20? Did he not run the 40? I thought this kid ran a 4.5??
  20. Does this kid have offers? Right now is the time schools offer. Spring to summer before the season. If you don't get offer in this time you most likely are not a D1 schorlship player.
  21. Its possible to play Football and Basketball and add mass. Eat lift and eat some more. My son played basketball 4 years in HS and AAU travel team. Entered HS at 185 four years later 235LB.
  22. IMO you are not being recuited until you have an offer. Offers should come in the spring or summer before your senior year. Schools are recruiting early. Your JR. film is the most important!! Getting it out now and seeing where you stand is the key. If you have all the physical tools - height, weight, speed - I believe a kid could have bad film or subpar and still get offers. That's if you go to camps. D1 coaches are all about what the kid will become with a few years in their weight room. Kids get offers with out playing varsity football. How? Camps, and great physical tolls. Size and speed. Happened at Dixie - Zeke Pike had big time offers at QB before he was even the varsity starting QB.
  23. . This is what real interest looks like from a D-1 school. This was about attending a summer camp. My son did not go and this school offered anyway later in the year. I understand that this is no easy feat given our distance from Kentucky. However, as I coach XXXX position I truly like XXXXX ability and think he would be a great fit in our offensive scheme. I attempted to call XXXX today and use my one permitted call and was unable to get in touch with him. I just wanted to reiterate my personal and our teams interest in XXXX and hope attending one of our camps is still something you both will consider. Congrats on your offers I knew it was only a matter of time before they came your way. Have a wonderful afternoon and Go XXXX!!
