  1. After Day One you need to be at 73 or better to be in a good spot heading into tomorrow's final day of stroke play. Here is where UK's Five-some are after day one: Cale Barr (76) Brad Doster (76) Ben Fuqua (79) Dan Woltman (76) Alex Volpenhein (76) The boys certainly aren't out of it, but they will need very good days tomorrow to make it to Match Play. ----------------------------------------------------- Note: congrats to Univ. of Florida Sophomore Billy Horschel for firing a first round 60! Wow. (It is a USGA Championship Record, besting the 62 by Loren Roberts at this year's US Senior Open and by Christina Kim at the 2001 U.S. Girls' Junior)
  2. Great stat -- the Reds tonight picked up win #12 when they strikeout at least 10 times. They lead the Majors in wins of that nature.
  3. You're right, but it seems to have gotten worse lately -- at least to me.
  4. If he is unable to focus on baseball, and no one would begrudge him for that, then go be with them. I think everyone would understand that. However, what he's doing is crazy. The other day he short hops the fence and makes no effort to get to 2nd, tonight Royce Clayton buries Everett to try and break up the double play only to have Junior strolling down the line. Infuriating. Seriously, what his parents are going through is very tough -- please go be with them if you can't separate yourself once you get on the field. Don't give me numbers, splits, etc. It's clear watching him that he isn't 100% in the game. Loose at-bats, lack of hustle, etc. Enough. Again, don't come back if he gets a hit and say, "HSSB, take that." Guys, it's his JOB to do that. Isn't that really the very base expectation? I'm sure he does care (one would hope), but a little effort would be super.
  5. They are in a district with Highlands and CovCath and just loss to Holy Cross -- I'd say they are in over their head more than any other team in the alignment. Just my opinion.
  6. Every game I watch, I like Griffey less. I'll be happy if he helps them get wins down the stretch, but that is his job.
  7. That guy's heart was pounding. Great inning for Scotty S.
  8. This team has hammered Petitte all year, but now, with the "playoff push" beginning, they can't do anything with men on base. Several players have had many chances tonight and they have all whiffed (many literally).
  9. Lot of reasons to take Beechwood, but I'm going with a hunch and going the other way: Dixie by 7-10.
  10. :thumb: :thumb: ------------------------------------------------------------ Stardate: November, 2016: HSSB: "...congrats to Lexington Catholic for their 7th state title in the last 11 years...." :jump: (just kidding Boyle Co. fans :bunny: )
  11. Holmes by a good margin...the game 1A bunch comes back down to Earth a notch. No shame for Holy Cross losing this game though, I'm sure Koz still is focusing on the 1A opponents down the stretch.
  12. Classic Neerfan post! :thumb: Dale and the Boys in a "name your score" special. If Coach Stellman doesn't like being "underestimated" by the media / internet, tell him to surprise us and avoid the running clock in the 2nd half.
  13. Let's be honest, you just don't want the Panthers coming off a loss to another KY team -- right? ====================================================== I've heard mixed reviews on Elder to this point (as many of you know, I work with a gaggle of them). If they are much improved (color me skeptical), than they win by 10-14. If they are about where they were last year, then I think the game is decided by 7 points, one way or the other. The offense, while not having to show much against the Rebels, will need to be clicking in the air and on the ground to have much of a chance. I'm looking forward to CovCath's Defense against the mighty GCL attack -- if they can somehow contain the run and make Elder throw the ball, I'll like our chances.
  14. I can't speak for how Marty feels about anyone, but I get the feeling that the ownership group would like to pair Marty with an ex-player, not another "professional broadcaster." Just my opinion from the outside looking in.
  15. Thanks LABS. I fully expect Tracy Jones to be given every chance to win the job.
  16. What's Dunn, about 50 points higher? I would have batted Dunn 2nd, Aurilia 5th, Phillips 6th, and Clayton 8th. Just my opinion.
  17. When Dunn was really smoking it in late July, he was batting 2nd. I'm not sure I get this line-up. When Hatte is in there, okay, makes sense. But tonight, without Hatteberg, to bat Dunn 5th and Clayton 2nd is really strange.
  18. ** clearing throat** ...and? ** clearing throat**
